  • OWL questions seeking general knowledge

I Took pics at the start of Atkins + 7 weeks later then today 15.5 weeks later. From my start pic to my 7 week pic YEAH you can see a diffrence i lost 25 in that time. Now from week 7 - 15 i'm not seeing a real change and i've only lost 10 pounds after week 7 so from week 7 till 15.5 week just about a 10 pound loss. It's clear my loss is slowing down by a lot i've had 4 weeks with no loss at certin points. I guess numbers all added that's still a avarage lil over 1 pound a week from weeks 7-15. Just want some assurence that it's common to slow THAT MUCH. At the start OF atkins weight was melting off! now i don't even get excited to weigh once a week. The only time i see ANY loss is right after TOM "so i'm sure it's water weight". I'm not unhappy i'm so glad to not see a GAIN. I do still feel better i have 3 kids age 11years-6 months i can keep up with them now. Before atkins i was totally DRAINED all the time.
I'm sure i will keep this as my way of eating. Just want to know from other women if their losses slowed like this. I still have 60-70 i'ld like to see GONE.
ALSO my hair is getting really OILY! it's always been dry my whole life now it gets so oily it looks dirty to me. I only use a shampoo for oily hair every day it still looks oily. Is that a common thing to experience? My face gets more oily now to kinda gross i've always had dry skin to.
I've told my hubby even if i never lost another pound i would not stop this way of eating it has been a real + thing for me. I could do without the oily face and hair thou lol.

For the majority of people, staying on Induction past the 14 days is unnecessary. Dr. Atkins said that only people with a high metabolic resistance to weight loss could benefit from extending Induction past the 14 days because it might correct their metabolic imbalances. And from what I've seen on this board, I have to agree with him.

So if you haven't moved on, move on. Some people find their weight loss improves when they move to OWL. I don't know why, but it happens.

As for your oily hair and skin, I don't have an answer for that.

      Re: oily hair...

Are you frying foods more often? I know that when I make certain fried dishes I create a cloud of olive oil molecules that just coats my cooking area...just a thought.

Re: OWL questions seeking general knowledge

I moved to OWL after 4.5 weeks on induction in hopes to speed up loss i'm doing rung 5 now: Wine and other low carb spirits. I've only drank 2 miler lite 3.2 carbs a can thou the whole week. No gain from the miler lite i'm not A big drinker anyway i hate wine i'll be doing Rung 6 soon. I've not done any rung that caused a GAIN or any rung that jump started new loss really i lose once a month 3-5 pounds after TOM maybe every now and then 1 pound some other time of the month. I stick to 25-35 carbs seems to be what i take in. I do still lose i just wish it was at a better rate. Seems i'll weigh the same 2-4 weeks then all at once lose 3-5 kinda weird.
I for sure use more fats and olive oil then i ever have in my LIFE! i'm sure that is part of this oily hair issue was just wondring if other people had that issue.

About the oil issue, I found the same thing when I started using real butter, and olive oils as my fats, but I also learned to that I really didn't need as much as I thought I had in the beginning. I also have to change shampoos every 30 days because the build up I get; of which, I don't mind because I switch around a few of my favs and have different smells too.

Hang in there. This is a way of eating for life that will indeed show you results as long as your drinking your water, exercising, and eating accordingly.

So which rung of OWL were you on at Week 7? Was that the last week you noticed a consistent loss, and then you were at the same weight for a few weeks after that?

i think i was doing rung 2 or 3 at week 7 ....really after week 4 i stoped losing so much i'm guessing that first 15 pounds was a whole of water i lost the most weeks 1-3 i assume that's how it goes for most people. i moved on to OWL after slowing down at week 4.
