  • How do You do Pre-maintanence?

Last time I did this, I pretty much stayed according to the rungs and I kept the weight off for 2 years - until I got pregnant. I can't remember by my CCLL...mommy brain......

Now I am back and was thinking about doing a variation - does anyone follow the suggestions in DANDR p 198 where it says you can either continue to eat at very low levels and allow yourself a higher carb treat a few times a week, or drop down to a lower level one day so you can have a higher carb intake the next day? Or do you find it easier to stick to the same amount of carbs every day?

    Thanks!

    I think you're misreading that Pre-Maintenance variation....

The book says "to continue eating as you were at the end of OWL, and to allow yourself a 20 gram carb treat two or three times a week. Add a piece of fruit or a starchy vegetable--a serving of brown rice or sweet potatoes, for example."

Unless you have a low CCLL, you won't be eating at a very low carb level during OWL. For example, your CCLL is 50, then during OWL, you shouldn't continuously eat at Induction level carbs---if you want to avoid that "extended Induction" weight loss plateau and if you want the most nutrition out of your menu. So you should be eating 40-45 (maybe 50) net carbs daily during your OWL.
