Re: sugar free chocolate?
Congratulations on losing 16 pounds! Wow!
Sugar free chocolate is packed full of sugar alcohols. Sugar alcohols are tricky; the manufacturers/companies CLAIM that you don't have to count them in carb totals because they supposedly don't affect blood sugar. That's true if you eat them and end up with explosive diarrhea--obviously your body DID not process the sugar alcohols at all! If you DON'T experience a laxative effect, then you need to count every single gram of those sugar alcohols as regular carbs.
Since you've been eating them and you've still lost 16 pounds, and I would assume you haven't had any horrible bathroom episodes (which means your body is processing all 20+ grams of those sugars), that must mean you have a relatively high CCLL. That's good news about the CCLL--you will be able to eat MORE healthy carbs.
I would ditch the SF candy for a while and see how you do without them--I would imagine your progress to be even more pleasing! SF candy is not allowed on a clean induction, anyway. Wait a bit, and perhaps you may introduce them later in the plan.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: sugar free chocolate?
Depends.
Are you in control of your consuption of the candies...or are they controlling you? Are they a crutch because you cannot give up sweets?
Can you give them up if you wanted to?
Can you have one or two pieces, and leave the rest of the bag along for a week?
