  • Questions about OWL

I have been on OWL for a couple of weeks now, but then I did the candida cleanse diet (well, for a week anyway). I am really struggling with the stricter cleanse diet, so I kind of moved back to OWL. My question is this: If you increase your carbs by 5 each week or every other week, and you are still not losing (not gaining either), should you keep increasing carbs by 5 or just stick to the carb count until you notice a drop in weight again? Iam at 35 carbs per day, but still not losing. Should I drop back down and still go up rungs or just stay put on carb or carbs and rungs until I lose?

I feel fine and feel like I might have lost a little becasue the pants I'm weraing today I dint' really feel comfortable in just last week. So, I'm confused and don't know what to do now. I have still only lost abut 8-10 pounds since starting June 16. But haven't lost any pounds in at least the last 3-4 weeks.

If you are losing inches, then you are losing weight/fat.

I lost pounds slower than I lost inches. So I went by what the tape measure said, rather than what the scale told me. And moved up the carb ladder accordingly. Granted it was a slower process, but I still lost fat/weight.

Have you analyzed what you eat on Fitday? Are your calories below your BMR?

When I got to 40g carbs, I stopped losing weight. Then I carefully looked at my diet and noticed I was eating right at my BMR. I had continued adding foods at each new rung without eliminating any fats, therefore my calorie level had gone up. When I cut back to a few hundred calories below my BMR (as easy as using less butter and oil or eating less cheese), I started losing again.

If you lost 8 pounds in your first 2-3 weeks, it sounds like you don't have a problem with high metabolic resistance. You're not technically in a stall if you're losing inches, but it's still worth analyzing your diet in my opinion.

this is they way my weight loss has gone .... feeling like i was losing nothing for ages .. even though i was feeling smaller ,, then a big loss on the scales almost overnight. The body will temporarily fill the emptying fat cells with water then when the body is ready it will release the water and you will get a " visit from the whooshie fairy. I have this problem too about my CCL ... as i can go without seeing a loss on the scale for a month to 6 weeks at a time i have had trouble working out how many carbs I lose best at. HOW long to stay at each level???? a mystery to me really. BUmping my carbs up or dropping them back doesnt seem to make much difference . So I am sort of winging it !
