  • My first big "test" tomorrow

So, there's this BBQ tomorrow, it's at a friends place and I'll have to stay there overnight, I know there's gonna be meat and water, I asked him to make sure he has loads of water as I won't have beer or wine (or would 1 glass or so be OK to have?).
Anyway, I thought I'd get all my veggies before we actually go there so I'm sure I won't miss them as there probably won't be any real veggie salads.
Now, knowing that friend, I don't expect he'll have proper atkins breakfast "material" available and I might not actually be able to eat much in the morning.
I thought I'd take an atkins morning bar even though I'm not on the nut rung yet, would that be OK...as a last resort kinda?
I'm really worried about going there as I won't be able to actually weigh and measure my food and of course there will be loads of stuff I can't eat.
I even feel like I shouldn't be going at all but I can't stay away from everything where I won't have control, can I?
I really don't like this situation!
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Why don't you make a nice salad to contribute to the barbecue and everyone has eggs (hopefully) or you could offer to make breakfast or bring your own. You don't have to fall victim with proper planning. The fact that you're thinking about this ahead of time is fantastic! Now do what YOU can without relying on him to know your WOE.

      Best of luck to you!

        you'll do well!

For breakfast, would your friend mind terribly if you made your own breakfast....or is he a weirdo like one of my friends whose kitchen is for display purposes only? If he doesn't mind, then bring your own food and have a proper breakfast.

I find that eating proper meals before uncertain events prevents any temptations of going off plan or feeling "hungry".

Eggs, yeah, he's gotta have these, can't imagine a household without them, so breakfast should be saved, I hope.
Salad probably is a good idea in any other country than Holland lol...I'd do it right away in Germany actually but these people here need to have everything loaded with carbs, I swear LOL.
They eat different kinds of potato salads and pasta salads it's gonna be the same with the sauces...low carb BBQ sauce or so is impossible to find here.
I might actually make some kinda ketchup myself as I don't want to eat dry meat.
I'll figure it out tonight, TOM will keep me up anyway
Thanks for the support, I know it's kinda silly

I don't know, never been at his house but I know he is pure chaos
I'll definitely have my veggies before I leave...a big "fat" greek salad will fill me up and I don't have to worry about that part anymore.
I might even bring some radish in case I need a snack....the night could be long.

Re: My first big "test" tomorrow

I'm back home and I think it went pretty well.
I had most of my carbs at home with a greek salad and made my own BBQ sauce, low carb of course, to take with me.
I ate chicken and pork with my sauce and had some cheese, might have had a little too much of it though as it got late and there wasn't anything else to eat when I got a little hungry but I do hope it'll be fine.
3 boiled eggs for breakfast and that's that... I survived it

                  Happy Dance...

It freaks me out to stay/go over to someone's house. But I just pack myself a cooler and most hosts dont find this insulting...

                  Good for you!
