  • full gauge?

I am not sure if this is a product of getting skinnier and I just don't need as much food now and need time to adjust, but lately when I am eating I never feel full. However, if I wait 10-15 minutes I often feel too stuffed. I just can not seem to know when to stop eating. As far as daily calories, I stay about 200 over my BMR so I am not concerned about over eating. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and about how long it takes to adjust.

    Re: full gauge?

It takes about 20-30 minutes for the stretch receptors in your stomach to fire off a message to your brain "I've reached capacity". So it's best to eat slowly---take breaks between bites by putting your fork/knife down between bites, take a sip of water, etc. Also ask yourself if you are still hungry. If you aren't, then stop eating.

The other idea is to put only a quarter to half of your servings onto your plate and don't reach for the remaining portion until you've finished everything on your plate. That will allow you time to reassess if you are satisfied with your meal.

Man, I typed a big long reply. It disappeared into adbb triangle. SO yeah, do this: use a plate one size down. the smaller plate will help you eat smaller portions. do not pile the plate either. you'll find you are satisfied.

Hey, i'm EXACTLY the same. I went out for a steak last night, finished it and a dry salad and felt hungry - which is stupid... noone feels HUNGRY after a steak.

I am always hungry no matter how much protein/ fat i eat. I eat 2 eggs for rbeakfast, tuna, celery for lunch.... tuna and avocado about 3 hours later, then dinner. I only feel full about an hour after dinner...and thats not always.

I have the exact same problems. Always hungry. Takes forever (like over an hour) for my fat receptors to tell me I don't need to eat... never just 20 mins as Dr A says. I really envy those people who say they can't eat because they just aren't hungry.

After two and a half years of Atkins, there are times when I think I'm learning and it's getting easier; but other times... grrrr.
I could easily overeat all those delicious Atkins foods. Maybe it's why I'm such a fierce advocate of the "feed only your hunger" philosophy... I try so hard to do it myself, all the time.

Admit I still have to deliberately control my portions, more often than not.
But... I have faith that verrrrry slowly I'm moving in the right direction.

Thanks all. I have found and continue to find so much helpful information and tips from this board. I believe I have been successful only with the help of everyone on this board. It is one thing to read something generilized in the book and another to get first hand experience. I just had to take
            to tell everyone thanks
