  • Too Few Calories

Hello all. I am having such a hard time getting enough calories. I beleive I am supposed to be shooting for 1700 a day which is over my basal, but I am truly struggling to get 1000 calories a day.

I started on Fitday this past Monday and the highest day I have had this week was Monday at 1077 calories. I am still losing - actually now with all the veggies I am eating I beleive I am losing rapidly. My percentages are pretty on target, but the total calories aren't there. I know a lot has to do with my lack of appetite.

What I am hoping for is some helpful advice from someone who may have had this problem and how they corrected it. ie: Should I add more dressings or dips with my veggies through out the day, etc....

do you cook your veggies in a fat? thats the easiest way. then of course yes adding dressings/mayo to salad

if im eating white meats then i will cook them in butter as theyre low in fat.

I sometimes have a little trouble getting enough calories but I'm not that low luckily
I always add butter to my brussels sprouts, broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, wherever it works.
if you fry your meat you usually use some kinda fat, right? count that in on fitday as well.
meat in general, unless it's chicken or turkey gives you quite some calories as well, unless of course it's lean.
I don't know what else you eat but always make sure it's not fat reduced.
I'm sure some more experienced atkineers have more/better tips, so I'll leave you to it
      Good luck

        Hello

I had to really cut back on salad dressings because my calories were too high, so I think that adding them would be a very quick way to add calories. I also cook fish, shrimp, and fresh green beans in butter on top of the stove and that bumps up the calories as well.

        Good luck

Thanks for the advice. It has been so hot that I have not been cooking much, just eating cold food. I will try cooking meat with butter and adding some dressings to my snacking veggies. Thank you all again.

            Re: Too Few Calories

I changed around the foods I was eating a little and added in extra meals - cream cheese with splenda makes a good dessert and is 100cal/oz. pumpkin with cream cheese and an egg and splenda makes a yummy breakfast or snack and is about 200-300cal (depending on the cream cheese, again). Salad dressings, adding butter to veggies...

What do you mean splenda and cream cheese just put splenda on cream cheese?

coconut oil? I just put it in my coffee with a little splenda or stevia.

I've been dipping raw cabbage in mayo too. It's a nice change from celery and and cucs with ranch.

For splenda and creamcheese, I mix 1 packet of splenda into about half to three quarters of an ounce of creamcheese, and I also add some cinnamon. Then, I drop little hershey kiss like rounds onto wax paper and freeze them. SOOOO GOOOOOD. It's also good warm.
