  • trigger food?

This week I added Jicami to my menus. I am not sure if it is a trigger food. I am not craving any certain things, but I am really hungry on the days I snack on Jicami. My weight loss as slowed down (but it is getting close to TOM again). So I guess my question is does a trigger make you crave certain items or can it just make you seem unable to get full? I know I overdid my cheese limit yesterday and still went to bed with my tummy rumbly. I do go through cycles where I am hungrier, but can usually get satsified unlike this week.

    Re: trigger food?

I find that happens to me when i eat onions, so ive started avoiding them, except maybe on a salad occasionally, if you can deal with it theres no realon to avoid it, however if you think it could start making you overate/crave, then i'd knock it on the head

      Re: trigger food?

It's quite possible that jicama is a trigger food for you. We've had ADBBers who can't eat celery or broccoli because they are trigger foods for them, while others can eat these foods with no problem.

So make a note of this. If you choose to eat jicama, then just be aware that the rumbly tummy isn't because you are hungry, but because you're reacting to the jicama.

Also, just because you can't eat it during OWL doesn't mean you'll won't be able to eat it at all. When you move to Pre-Maintenance Phase you can try adding it into your menu and see what happens.

Thanks for the reponses and advice. For now atleast I intend to not eat it as I do not trust myself. It is a shame cause I really enjoyed it, but I enjoy losing weight more. lol Hopefully, I can add it back later.

I understand. I just moved to owl rung 4, berries, and I don't like berries so I tried cantaloupe. The cantaloupe made me feel hunger pains within an hour or so. It was tasty and I enjoyed it but I think it's a trigger food. I'm going to try it one more time but pair it with something fatty, like some cheese on the side and see if that counteracts the reaction. If not, I say good bye to the melon.

I have yet to pin point the food or foods but, every so often I am a lot hungrier then usual. It gets real annoying some days i hardly want to eat at all.
