I'm starting the dairy rung on Monday. What can I get? I don't really like milk unless it's being eating in a milk shake or with cereal. I know I can get cottage cheese and yogurt. What else? Is sugar free chocolate pudding alright? I need some ideas!

Fresh cheeses like cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, paneer/panir, fresh mozzarrella, fresh goat cheese, etc.Originally posted by StefanieI'm starting the dairy rung on Monday. What can I get? Milk products like yogurt, kefir, cream (5 net carbs worth of cream, not the 2-3 tablespoons allowed during Induction.)
As for the sugar free chocolate pudding, you'd have to read the ingredients to see if the ingredients are okay for Atkins in general and okay for your phase of OWL.~Megs~

Not regular yogurt, like you find in the dairy aisle -it's got a TON of carbs.
Try to find the greek yogurt- trader joe and whole foods carry it.
I've pretty much stuck to cottage cheese, because it's easy and I like it, though last night I indulged in whipped cream topped with a chocolate paste I make by heating 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and splenda to taste.

My problem is that im finding it really hard to find full-fat cottage cheese in the UK. All the supermarkets sell low fat and nothing else.

Try full fat Greek yoghurt banded "Total".Originally posted by bambinaUKMy problem is that im finding it really hard to find full-fat cottage cheese in the UK. All the supermarkets sell low fat and nothing else.
Sainsbury, Tesco and Waitrose do it - not sure about the others.
I flavour it with vanilla extract and add a little Splenda - then I throw a few berries on the top.Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Thanks Emma, I did look on Asda's shelves last week, but didn't spot any full-fat. Will swing by again tomorrow and look harder!
Labarum - I loooooooooove Total Greek yogurt, in fact I think I love it a bit too much!! Sounds weird, but last time I was on Atkins, I used to mix in Peanut Butter.

kefir? oh yummy!
too bad i can't buy it here :/
mascarpone is allowed too and it has less carbs than most other dairy products.
i just discovered it last week and thought i had died and gone to heaven when i tried it
i put a teaspoon or so of unsweetended cocoa and some sweetener in it and it tastes like really milky chocolate *yum*

Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: So, What Kind of Stuff Should I Buy For The Dairy Rung?
Kefir is a fermented/cultured milk product. So it's okay to give it a try during the Dairy rung. I have a hard time finding full fat Kefir (too many low fat or *gasp* non-fat versions around). But if you can find full fat Kefir or have the Kefir grains to make your own, go for it!~Megs~
