  • The first rung of OWL

    Yesterday was day 15 for me and I made a sudden snap decision to move to the first rung of OWL last night, just before dinner, having previously decided I'd stay on induction. It was partly because I just looked at my plate and I badly wanted more veggies, partly because I have read so many people here saying not to be scared of it.

    Here's the thing though. On induction I was eating the veg that were on the list, 2 cups from the first list, one from the second just as described, but on Fitday that was giving me an average of 22g total carbs, but only 15g when the 7g of fibre was taken out.

    So, yesterday my carbs were 27g minus 8 fibre, giving me a total of 19g, pretty much the 5g increase for the first rung of OWL. But I was starting from less than the 20g a day which you're supposed to have during induction.

    Is this right? The first rung is 5g up on the previous level as distinct from moving to 25g as an absolute number? For now I am happy with the extra veggies that I can have on this rung.
