  • Do I really have to eat?

Since I started induction, I usually wake up needing breakfast but by lunch time, I am really not hungry, I try late lunch sometime, I put a cup of salad or something and just cannot eat it.. but of course since I know that it is not recommended to skip meals, I force myself and eat something at lunch.

The problem now is that after starting OWL, I completely lost the lunch appetite. May be due to my 5 carbs increase I have.. donno.. but cannot eat at all, I feel like throwing up each time I take a bite.

So, my question again is, do I really have to eat 3 meals a day?

Seems that deep ketosis does this to folks, I went through this too. You HAVE to feed your body, it's like a car, it won't go without fuel. Food is fuel. Try small spread out, fatty snacks, cheese sticks, boiled eggs, devilled eggs, this too shall pass, but getting through it is the hard part. My ketosis was so deep I would gag after one or two bites, but had to force feed. Good luck,

I, too, had this problem. What I did is make sure that I was getting veggies (carbs) at all my meals. AND, I made sure to eat the veggies FIRST. So if I got full, that I'd at least gotten the veggies (fiber) in. THEN because I was actually getting MORE carbohydrate this helped lessen that deep deep ketosis and deep appetite suppression.

Thanks all for your messages. I had to skip lunch today.. couldn't eat at all but will try from now on to go with veggies only first, especially during breakfast so that I get some appetite for lunch.

Re: Do I really have to eat?

Oh...and you only HAVE to eat if it has been six hours since you last ate.

So, if you eat breakfast at 7:00 AM, you absolutely Do not have to eat again until 1. And, if you eat something small, so be it. Just make sure you get something in your system. The machine must have fuel. Then, if you eat at 1, you dont have to eat again until 7 PM.

Make your veggies during this time COUNT! Peppers, jicama, broccoli, cucumbers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes and stuff like that. Lettuce is little better than water. It doesn't have much of anything that is truly GOOD for you. I frequently eat an entire red pepper at breakfast. Then I have a cup of cut up jicama at lunch. A cup of pumpkin sometime during the day, and then a cup of cauliflower or such at dinner. That's 2 cups of "salad" veggies (pepper and jicama) and 2 cups of "other" veggie for just starting out on rung 1. LOTS of fiber.
