  • Switched from South Beach (yay!) - have a question

I started South Beach on 12/23 (yea...two days before Christmas!) because I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes (Merry Christmas to me...sigh.). Doc said to do South Beach because Low-Carb is the way to go for diabetics.

So...I lost 10 pounds the first week, 2 the second week, then gained the third week (with South Beach it's easy to 'cheat' with the fruit and all), and lost a couple pounds last week.

I decided to switch to Atkins - started today.

Should I do induction (I did it for South Beach...it's almost exactly the same as Atkins)? Or should I move right to OWL?

Thanks - I look forward to your advice!

    Crystal

Just read a little bit about SB, i would go ahead and do the induction on Atkins,

Atkins is a high fat, carb controlled way of eating, south beach seems to be low fat, carb controlled - here you want 65% of your calorific intake from fat.

That is correct - no caffeine, no fruit, no sugar, no alcohol.

Thanks - I was pretty much leaning that direction, but just wanted to check. Nice thing is - I never reintroduced many carbs, so I *shouldn't* have the sickness this time...haha.
