Re: Still not losing on OWL
Try to post your meals here may be someone in the forum can spot something.
Have you taken your measurements before starting Atkins? You could be loosing and not knowing it. Even if everything is perfect, please do not get discouraged. Been there done that really. It could be a start of a PISS (Post Induction Stall Syndrome) or could be something wrong you are doing.
For me I thought I was doing everything as perfect as possible, but not reading the book at first, I realized later that I was doing it all wrong. After fixing the mishaps, and restarting induction everything was working fine, once I went to OWL all weight loss I enjoyed during my induction just stopped for couple of weeks. I didn’t get discouraged, but at the same time didn’t have enough patience to wait and see whether it is a PISS or what. I simply dropped back to extended induction for couple of weeks and sure enough, lost almost the same weight I did in my first induction. Been loosing every week since then, slow but sure. Was it PISS? Not sure and I am not interested to know anyway..
The important thing is that I am loosing weight.
The point is, there could be many reasons for you not loosing weight on the scale. Let’s start first by making sure you haven’t lost inches because you could loose inches but not lbs. Meanwhile, try to post your meals (with total daily water intake) in here to see if there is anything wrong there.
What carb count are you in right now? How many lbs did you loose during your induction?Start Date: 11/13/2007

Re: Still not losing on OWL
Most people stall between weekes 3-5, its called PISS, Post Induction Stall Syndrome, did you take measurements at the start? if so take them again and you'll realise its just your body catching up with the scales, if you didnt why not? DO IT!HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: Still not losing on OWL
Hands up! Step away from the pie!
Give these folks a chance to help you pinpoint your issue. Mitzi mentioned the first week of rung 1 to add only 1 food three days a week, and if that goes ok, have it everyday the next week. Adding the one item at a time helps you see what food you might be sensitive to. Maybe you knew all this, but I didn't, and it sounds like a good way to stay on top of it.

Re: Still not losing on OWL
I agree with what everyone else has written.
Post your menues and indicate which vegetable is the OWL veggie. For example, if you added 5 net carbs of spaghetti squash as your OWL veggie:
Breakfast
2 eggs
1 ounce cheddar cheese
1 cup sliced mushrooms
Lunch
Baked chicken leg
2 cups salad (lettuce, celery, radishes, green peppers) with oil and vinegar
Dinner
Pork Chop
**3/4 cup spaghetti squash** with parmesan cheese and butter.
We can see easier what your OWL veggie is if you mark it.

Re: Still not losing on OWL
since the menu and PISS have been mentioned already, let me tell you how my "weightloss" usually works, unless I'm really lucky
I don't lose anything for 1-2 weeks, then I lose a tiny little bit, then gain or stall for 1-2 weeks, then lose a tiny little bit again.
This is how it goes for me and I do follow the rules and only eat foods I know are safe for me.
On rare occasions I lose more than just a little bit or don't "gain" immediatly the next day but while I am losing my body still has it's own weird rythm...so yours might too.
I survive all this only on the knowledge that I'm in ketosis and my measurements tell me that I AM still losing

Re: Still not losing on OWL
I'm in the same boat that you're in. I started OWL this week, and for the last week I have had no weight loss. I am working out diligently everyday, doing cardio & ab work, and after taking my measurements on Monday, the inches are starting to drop, and my clothes are loose. The last time I was on Atkins, I had no real weight stall, so this is frustrating, but after reading about PISS, I feel alot better, as the inches are coming off, and the weight will eventually follow! So let's both hang in there! We can, and will do it!

Re: Still not losing on OWL
I think it's kind of difficult for anyone to pinpoint what your issue is with seeing a very detailed (including portion sizes for everything) typical daily menu. It's amazing how often it is just one or two little changes that can make all the difference.Kate

Re: Still not losing on OWL
Good news I lost 2 oz lol.
I will have to wait until I get home to post things I am eating. I didn't realize it was just ONE particular foor for the 5 extra carbs. I thought it was just 5 more carbs of veggies. HEH. I think part of the prob might be PISS, cream and sour cream. When everyone was talking bout PISS I didn't think it lasted this long. Good lord. I didn't give in the other night and not going to now.

Re: Still not losing on OWL
It's 5 net carbs of any Induction veggie. If the vegetable is "new" to you, then you should add it every other day and see what happens. "New" means you have never eaten it before or you never ate it during your Induction. For example, you've never eaten asparagus before in your life. Therefore asparagus is a "new" vegetable to you and you add it to your OWL, every other day for a week. See what happens to your weight loss OR take the Blood Sugar Symptom test in the book. If you don't lose pounds or inches, drop the asparagus and see what happens for a week. If you do lose, then add it daily and see what happens. Likewise, if you never ate cucumbers during Induction, that veggie is "new" to you, so you add it every other day, as you would a veggie you never ate before in your life.Originally posted by MiryaGood news I lost 2 oz lol.

...........................
This is what I usually do with my menu.... at least very close... I do not eat anything that has added sugars, no added nitrates, i cook all my own food, i have slipped in an emergency about a week ago to eat shredded cheese because I will not use dressings anymore.
I don't really have time to sit down and write out every meal i have every day to put on here but I do understand the purpose.
. Maybe I'll plan my meals and shopping trips accordingly to see if that helps. Honestly though I think its just that I am in PISS atm

Re: Still not losing on OWL
I don't see any issue with your menu... well, I think you either have to wait till PISS passes, or if you are out of patience you can drop 5 carbs by cutting the cheese and dropping the consumption of the high carb veggies a bit like okra, onion, tomatos, pepper and broccoli and replace the drop with lesser carbs veggies like cucumber, spinach, spring mix, etc.
Try that for a week it may break your PISS.. I did that myself and worked fine and been loosing since then.Start Date: 11/13/2007
