    Re: I am becoming Militant!!!

I totally know what you mean.

I am finding out that you definitely need to follow the diet as its set out to be not only be successful in the weight loss but to also be healthy.

Too many people just hear oh this is bad, that is bad, and they just go with the rest of the group like little mindless lemmings. It is your time to be the flutist to show them the light

      Re: I am becoming Militant!!!

I saw this on Fox News this morning while I was working out and only caught part of it, so I had to find the article on Prevention Magazine. Sounds like another load of c*** from the low fat/high carb propandists!

      Here is the headline

      Nature's Fat-Burning Breakthrough
Why eating carbs can help you slim down--and how to do it right

I especially liked the statements "research shows" or "studies show", "it may" or "it can". I wonder who funded that study. OreIda, Chiquita Bananas, ConAgra, and Uncle Bens???

          Re: I am becoming Militant!!!

Is that from Prevention magazine? I can't even stand to read that. Anything low-carb is immediately shot down. Why? Dr. Ornish is one of their contributors...

Thanks Betty! You might just make a runner out of me yet!

              Yep Julie! None other!

Here is how the article leads off:
              By D. Milton Stokes, RD

Potatoes get a bad rap as little more than a waist-thickening waste of calories. But amazing new research puts spuds squarely at the center of the latest weight loss buzz, along with other unfairly maligned carbs such as corn and rice. The reason: All these foods contain resistant starch, a unique kind of fiber you'll be hearing a lot more about. In fact, experts agree that it's one of the most exciting nutrition breakthroughs they've seen in years. "Resistant starch has the potential to become the next hot nutrition trend," says Leslie Bonci, RD, author of the American Dietetic Association's Guide to Better Digestion. Indeed, more than 160 studies have examined this little known nutrient's remarkable health and weight loss benefits.

Gee, I wonder how much information they had to overlook to make those studies come out the way they wanted! Maybe like you burn more fat, but you are actually storing it at a greater rate! Call me a cynic!

                Re: I am becoming Militant!!!

                Liz .... great post!

I've been accused of being a bit militant once and a while. I'm entirely a whole foods kind of gal with hardly a morsel of processed or fast food passing my lips. I don't whine about what I can't eat or drink or the wedding or birthday party that will find me making my own choices for food. I'm happier .... I'm healthier ... and I don't weigh 494 pounds any more!! YEA!!!!

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.
