  • Is it really PISS?

I moved up to OWL rung 1 about 10 days ago. I've been pretty good at keeping my carb grams right around 25. Since beginning OWL, I haven't lost any weight or inches and had attributed that to PISS, but now I'm wondering if I've simply exceeded my CCLL (I have average metabolic resistance per the chart in DANDR). I also exercise 4 days a week, which I know doesn't quite qualify me as a regular exerciser.

So my question is, how do I know if it's PISS or if I've exceeded my CCLL?

Umm, what's PISS (and will I feel stupid for asking )
It's highly unlikely that the extra 5 grams stalled you since you had an average resistance. It could just be the frequently-experienced post induction stall. Have you gone over to the "review my menu" forum? Could be something sneaking in there

How long have you been off induction? Usually after 3 weeks people get a stall in weight loss for up to 4-6 weeks. This is normal

As it looks like you figured out, PISS is Post Induction Stall Syndrome

I've been off induction for a week and a half. I'm familiar with the stall, I was just curious how people distinguish this stall from their CCLL.

oh. i would imagine if you cut out food and lose then add moreback inand stall that that would be your ccll. Hopefully someone else can answer this for you better as I am not to that point yet. That's just what I read in the book.

              Re: Is it really PISS?

It is highly unlikely that you've hit your CCCL. Much more likely that you have PISS or even just a short "pause". You won't even start thinking about the CCCL for months yet.

Are you taking your measurements? If not, do it immediately and measure again in a week or two.

Hang tight. Your body just needs time to adjust to this weight loss. It will probably only last a few weeks, but I'll warn ya - mine lasted 2 months and I had to really stay tough with the program to get thru it! But it's worth it - as soon as I was out of it, I lost 6 lbs and 15 inches in 1 month.

Think positive. You've only added more veggies, so there's no particular food that would be causing this. You're still at a low level of carbs, so that's not the issue. It's gotta be an adjustment issue. Keep working out. Keep drinking water. Keep eating.

If you feel like it would help, add some more fat to your daily menu.

              Scale: SW:235 CW:193
              GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

              Mini goals:
              215 - met 9/10/07
              205 - met 10/17/07
              195 - met 2/20/08
              180

              I survived a two-month stall!

                Re: Is it really PISS?

Thanks for the encouragement. I feel great and finally have control over cravings so there's no way I'd give up this WOL just because the scale is paused. I am measuring inches as well, hopefully I'll notice a drop in that area soon.

                  Good for you, holly!

Dont forget to keep an eye on other body parts as well as the usual bust/hips/waist etc.
I lost a whole shoe size as well as a hat size (never knew I had a fat head!! )
and have had to have all my rings resized

Here is how much I had to have taken out of my rings - pic of one after resizing and one needing resizing
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Wow, that is a crazy difference in your ring size! It's funny, today I considered that I might not be taking enough measurements, so I took some more today that I will measure in two weeks.

                        Re: Is it really PISS?

I was exactly where you are - just broke through last week and lost 2 last week and 3 this one - I was stuck for about 3 weeks - post induction - I just kept doing what I was doing - I did stay on rung 1 all that time as I was afraid to move up. I"m on rung 2 this week.

Hang in there - you will break out of it.
