  • my confusion with net carbs...

    hiii. just a quick question.

if i eat a serving size of something that has 9 carbs and 5g fiber, it equals 4g carbs, right?

BUT... what if it is something like, say, pumpkin, that needs to be cooked? do you no longer count the fiber and then the cooked pumpkin will then still be 9 carbs?

this is so confusing but i don't want to give up my new love, mr pumpkin.

No, the fiber doesn't go away just because you cooked it/heated it. It will still be 4 net carbs. Do you cook it with anything? Like butter? Or just heat it up?

the carbcount for cooked veggies is usually higher than when they are raw.
you might want to use fitday if you dont already and make sure you select the cooked version.
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

          Good suggestion, Sera
Many veggies and other foods shrink into smaller portiones once cooked, so you might find one cup of raw veg makes only 1/2 cup when it has been cooked, so the carbs for 1/2 cup of cooked whatever would be the same as for one cup of it before cooking.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
