  • Feel like a bit of a putz today

I was kind of bad today I've been soooo busy getting ready for a cub scout den meeting and getting the kids to and from school that by the time I got ready to eat something tonight I had no time to make something. I ended up drinking one of those atkins advantage chocolate shakes. I don't like to to do that but if was either that or get hungry and screw up my metabolism. I hope it doesn't screw me up. If it does stall me (I don't think it will, it never did before) Its about a month before I weigh again so I'm bound to get back on track. God I hate it when this happens.

See all you newbies, everyone makes mistakes!

Well, stuff happens. It is not like you had a donut. We know that plan plan plan is the key to success but hey I have had a shake in emergency too.

It was an emergency! Life happens. I don't think it will affect you at all. Today, you just plan a little better and have some yummy real food. If this is a true life change, stuff like this will happen from time to time and you just do what you have to do to stay as much on course as you can. I think it was a good choice.

today Is a much better day Sunny Smile. I started off with my usual three eggs scrambled with a dash of hot sauce and a tsp of minced garlic, and a tsp of real bacon pieces. scrambled it all up and chowed down. Astonishingly that holds me quite a while. I'm sitting down right now and eating this fabulous salad with three different types of lettuce, (no ice berg) its very green and leafy. It has spinach in it. I added some chicken strips shredded mexican cheese, dill hamburger pickes, avacado and my favorite South Beach Diet Italian Dressing.

I'm lovin this level of the owl rung. Is it okay to say on it longer than a weeK?

Which rung are you on? I am in rung 1 and I plan on staying there for a while, trying out different veggies until I am completely comfortable. I don't think it matters how long you stay on a rung as long as you eventually go through them all appropropriately. I don't even really miss anything other than berries but I am in no hurry to get there because I know I need more self control when it comes to them. I may even stay on Rung 1 until I get to about 150, then start slowly moving up the rungs.

I've stayed on the rungs much longer than a week. There are so many things to try out.

Mmmmmmmm it all sounds so good! You can stay at any one level for as long as you like. I have been up the ladder, found I couldn't handle much of it, so I am almost always on rung one--extra veggies. I can't handle nuts out of hand, but do bake with them, so I have some that way once in a while. I love fruit, but it doesn't love me, so I can only have it as a rare treat. Apples are the easiest on me, so I usually only buy one or two at the time. I eat strawberries raspberries, blueberries and cantaloupe once in a while in the summer when they are in season. I grow strawberries and black raspberries.

I have branched out to trying foods over again that I have never liked. Avocado is one of those. I finally like it and now I can't wait for them to get ripe so I can make homemade guacamole. I have had the hardest time getting carbs with my breakfast, but now my very favorite is one egg fried hard in a little butter, while warming some sliced chicken or turkey on the other side of the pan. While they are hot I put the egg on the bottom, a little guacamole, then the warmed meat and then guacamole on top. Leave it until the hot egg and chicken warm up the guacamole up and dig in! Yum!

Since I can't get my avocadoes to get ripe fast enough, tomorrow I am making an omelet with roasted asparagus and Hollandaise sauce over it! I can't wait!

              Sunny!

Re: Feel like a bit of a putz today

                  Shari,

I stayed on Rung 1 for a couple of months. On the weeks that I didn't try a new food, I upped my carbs to begin the search for my CCLL. That way, when you decide to move further up the rungs, you will have more carbs to "spend", without having to sacrifice veggies to do it. Just remember not to try new food and up carbs during the same week. If there is a problem, you want to be able to pinpoint whether it was the new food, or the increase in carbs, that is the culprit.

Like Sunny, I have also been through all of the rungs, and found that I have to eat mostly from Rung 1. I use foods from the other rungs as occasional treats.

Keep up the great work! It sounds like you are doing well.

I stayed on rung one for almost 5 months. Since I have moved up to OWL 3 my losses have really picked up. And luckily peanuts (the only thing I can eat besides sunflower seeds on the rung) do not stall me or cause cravings. I think I am going to move to berries by the end of this month and stay there for a while until I am in the 150's.
