  • [light] BEER!

i'm not really a drinker, and therefore am clueless about beer. however, i want to find a signature beer that i can order when i'm out with friends so i don't have to blind order something that potentially has 17g carbs per serving in it. i found a carb comparison chart here for light beers... i tried the rock green light yesterday, and it was okay, as far as beer goes, but i can't help but think there's probably a better option i don't know about [as i know nothing about beer. yup.]

so, what's your favorite light beer? is it watered down or really authentic?
what are the nutrition facts [carb count per serving]?

and has anyone tried michelob ultra amber? i'm eyeballing it, since it has 3.7g of carbs per bottle, is rated well on the linked website, and has a "nice flavor" ...

i'm really looking for something tasty [again, as far as beer goes, haha] and pretty universal - ie. if i went to a bar, i would like for any generic bar to likely serve it.

    thanks in advance!!

The one that I used to drink was Michelob Ultra. I believe it has the lowest carb count...It tastes pretty good too!

I believe that miller lite only has 3-4 carbs per bottle. Some people say it tastes like water but I like it.

Try Bud Select. It's my favorite, and I generally don't even like Bud products

          Re: [light] BEER!

For anyone outside the US keep in mind these light beer carb counts are US beers. I know in Canada, our light beers brewed here (including the US brands like Coors light, Bud light etc) are 13g's per bottle! It's a huge difference....If you live in Europe, Britain etc you're best to try to find out the carb counts for beers brewed outside the US.

              Re: [light] BEER!

I hate light beer, so if I drank beer, I'd "splurge" a little bit, since I could afford it carb-wise. Guinness is 10g/bottle, and I liked a lighter microbrew called Skinny Dip, which was 7g/bottle.

Generally, any light beer will be lower in carbs. Have you looked at www.realbeer.com? They have lots of nutritional info for many beers.

Mic Ultra by far! A little off topic but still in line--on Saturday I went out with some girlfriends to a club, and since I couldn't order my usual (grayhound--17 g of carbs!), I chose a dirty martini which has 0 carbs. YUCK!! Not doing that again. There's not many low carb mixed drinks to chose from that doesn't taste like something an 80 year old man would drink.

Any liquor with a diet mix is low carb, i personally like vodka and diet coke. Rum diet coke, rye/diet coke, vokda/soda, vodka/gin/diet tonic are all low carb. Many white and red wines are low carb (they vary depending on type and brand)

Keep in mind you shouldn't have alcohol until on the appropriate rung.
