  • Starting OWL rung 2

Monday I am starting OWL rung 2. I think I have been doing alright with rung 1 adding a lot of veggies and keeping my net carbs between 20 and 25 mostly around 25 every day and lost 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks.

This is actually very scary. I am going to add full fat creamed cottage cheese this next week. Carb counter says 6 grams carbs in 1 cup, 4 grams in 3/4 cup. I think I will eat a little more than 3/4 cup three times the first week. Then the second week I will eat it every day. Don't know if I can handle cottage cheese every day.

Maybe the second week I should add plain yogurt every other day. I just don't know what to do with this. I am a bit fearful that it will stall me anyway. I plan on staying on rung 2 for at least 3 weeks.

Would love ideas and suggestions on how others have added dairy.

    Re: Starting OWL rung 2

You should do fine. I start with a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and I haven't had any problmes with it. As far as yogurt goes, there are two schools of thought. The doctors that wrote the Go-Diet advised that when milk is cultured to make yogurt, the carbs go way down so you could count 4 carbs per cup instead of the 12 carbs. Others do not believe this and sick with the 12. Personally I have found that the health effects of yogurt are amazing and I haven't had any problems with my blood sugar spiking on it, so I eat it fairly regularly with great results.
You will know if you eat something that spikes your blood sugar, you suddenly have cravings that you hadn't experienced before.
