starting Rung 1 today, Im confused

  • starting Rung 1 today, Im confused

    Ok Im done with induction, I've happily lost 16lbs on it, but it's time to move on! I have a few questions, I did already read the stickies, but Im still unsure.

    1) So, all Im doing is using the same induction list of veggies, just adding one more cup? total of 5 additional carbs correct?

    2) when can I move on to rung 2?

    3) will I continue to lose at the same speed? Im averaging roughly 1.5-2.0 lbs a week.


    is there any advice or pointer you would like to give?

    As one cup of the various induciton veggies varies quite a bit as to the number of net carbs, you need to add 5 net carbs of the chosen additional veg, which might mean a few cups (lettuce) or a fraction of a cup (pumpkin).
    There is a good sticky thread in the 14-day induction list which details the number of carbs per cup of the veggies which will help I am sure. Or look at the 'power of five' thread in this forum.

    2) when can I move on to rung 2?
    Most people spend a couple of weeks on each rung at least while they test which foods affect them and see if the added 5 net carbs have made them reach their CCLL.

    3) will I continue to lose at the same speed?
    Possibly not. Dr Atkins thought weightloss would definitely slow, but some members found their losses increased when they moved to OWL.
    As it will be one of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things it will be something you need to keep in mind that weighloss is not usually straightforward and that many factors affect it.

    Also you might find your weight stays the same while your measurements shrink, so do measure regularly as well as weighing.

      Additionally to what Elizellen wrote, if it is a brand new veggie that you never ate during induction, you can only eat it three times in the first week. All the rungs follow that rule. We are hoping that you try lots of new foods, so just remember to only have it three times the first week you add it in--that way you can see how it will affect you.
