  • Whey???

I'm trying to find a spaghetti sauce that doesn't have sugar in it,(I know I can make my own but this is for when I'm lazy). I've found a few but they have ricotta in it. In () after ricotta it lists whey as one of the ingredients in ricotta. I'm on the cheese rung so I can have ricotta so can I eat this sauce??? I thought whey was some form of wheat. TIA Kathie

    Re: Whey???

Whey is a dairy product (did you learn the nursery rhyme about Little Miss Muffet when you were a child? In the version I learned she was eating curds and whey!)
In the process of making cheese, milk is acidified to a point where the casein precipitates. This process, called coagulation, produces curds (which eventually become cheese) and whey (the liquid portion that contains water, lactose and serum proteins).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

        Re: Whey???

how funny, I alway thought it was eating her curds all day... but now that you mention it, that does sound right... hehe.

I always wondered what whey was too... I see it in a lot of stuff. I've been steering clear of it figuring it was some kind of wheat. lol
