  • I made it to OWL!

I paid my Induction dues and lost 15 lbs. I'm thrilled, but I'm even more thrilled to be going onto OWL and following the rungs to establish my CCL.

Have many of you established your CCL? I'd be interested to hear what that number is for other's.

    P.S. Thank you !!

Re: I made it to OWL!

Congrats on the 15 lbs and for making the move to OWL!

I originally made the mistake of never finding mine the first time around, I stayed at far too low carb levels when I moved to OWL out of fear of gaining(became carb phobic as well), I now really regret that.

I'm in maintenance but trying to lose 10-15 lbs i gained back, I think staying too low wreaked havoc on my metabolism and I ended up paying for it. I've re-tried induction several times, dropped down rungs, and was in ketosis for months and never lost a lb.

I've now upped my exercise (running), and am eating 75-100 g's net carbs a day, and I lost 4 lbs last week. Hopefully it'll keep going!

Alot of it will differ from person to person based on metabolism, activity level (your going to be able to have more with more exersice usually).

So technically I have no idea what my ccll is as i never really found it properly my first time around, but with exericise it seems it's quite high.

Wow! 75 to 100 carbs is fantastic! Thanks for sharing your story! And a big congratulations on the 4 lbs lost last week!!

My thoughts going into this was that I wanted to make it a complete way of life, and that's why I want to continue up the rungs and find my CCL. Staying on Induction was tempting because I was so successful, but I'm trusting Dr. Atkins here that he knew what he was doing by creating a system of steps to gradually increase the carbs. I think moving up the rungs will help keep me from getting bored with the food, as the options increase.

I'm in this for the long haul, not the fast results. If the fast results happen, that will just be an additional bonus. I want to get "me" back. I want to know when I get to maintenance exactly what I need to be eating to look fabulous and feel energetic for the rest of my life.

That's a great attitude to have, you are right, it's for the long haul, and doing it right the first time around will make you a more than successful goalie and make it so much easier to maintain! It is tempting to stay in induction, but you are right, Dr. Atkins created OWL for a reason...and it will definately help with food boredom for sure.

Remember that regular exercise will likely make your ccll and CCLM higher, so it's a good idea to make it a regular part of your routine. I'm not running huge distances, just 2/3 miles 3 or 4 times a week, but that 30-45 mins seems to make all the difference.

        Good luck!
