  • Weird, but true..Question (beef and chicken)

I just don't get it...this is something that has occurred to me even before I did Atkins, but for some reason whenever I eat beef or chicken breast (usually eaten with a veggie stir fried in olive oil) I either feel unfulfilled or like I want something sweet to eat..

    What gives?

I just don't get it and I have never figured this out, I don't feel this way after I eat chicken thighs/drumsticks/wings...but usually also with any form of beef...do I have a possible intolerance?

I don't know enough about intolerances yet, but maybe you should add more fat to the meal. Perhaps avocado, sour cream, or cheese. It's just a thought...

I'm sure others will have great nuggets of wisdom to share.

Hiya - actually I've encountered the same phenomenon as well (just with chicken though) and I think it has something to do with the amout of fat we eat with it (right on Kristine). When I eat Chicken Drumsticks (etc.) with the skin I am a happy and satisfied for a long time. If I just eat grilled chicken I am not - I need to eat it with extra fat (butter or olive oil). Also the veggies I eat along with it play a big role.

I can't believe you posted this! I've noticed this before, but it really caused me some concern when the same thing happened to me last night after dinner - I had a great salad with chicken sauteed in some olive oil and seasonings, and I had a huge craving for something sweet afterwards, and felt not fully satisfied by the meal.

Thanks for the advice all - I will try to add more fat to the meal... Is it possible the olive oil causes this?

Thanks for all of your responses!!!!!

Mookie....that is a good question about the olive oil??? I used it for my brocolli, but the chicken was pan fried and the beef was on the George Foreman....hmmm......??? Someone can give us more insight. It must be the amount of fat or something...When I ate burgers from fast food places or restaurants I didn't feel this way?

Swiss Miss: What veggies do you seem to have a good combo with?

Clogger: I am still testing my intolerances for sour cream and cheeses. Some days are better than others. I have quite a few food allergies/intolerances...but I usually put cheese on it...hmmmm..come to think about it, at my mom's she always makes very juicy cheeseburgers and I had cabbage on the side...hmmm.....??????I am thinking out loud here.

We will get to the bottom of this mystery!lol!!!

Re: Weird, but true..Question (beef and chicken)

I have the same problem with pork chops. So whenever I eat them, I make darn sure to not give into any craving problems!

I don't know why this happens. Maybe it triggers some kind of response? But look at it this way, you have found a "trigger" food, so if you choose to eat it you know what to expect.
