  • Update...Have I really moved on?

So I was supposed to seriously try the rungs of OWL but I keep sticking to Induction and its basically been 4 months. I've lost (as of today) 47.5lbs! I am DIEING to hit that 50lb mark. I was .5lb away and then something evil happened and it went the other way!

My biggest problem lately has been CAFFEINE!

I started out with the Starbucks Cafe Americano's with (too much) splenda and half-and-half. I seriously think I am addicted to them and it's not good!

I seem to be going through some weird phase where if I don't have one of those drinks; I don't lose weight. Theres gotta be something in it (maybe the half and half?) that is helping me along.

I think I might not be eating enough. I've been eating 2-3 fried eggs with mayo in the morning. 1-2C of salad with olive oil and vinegar dressing. For supper lately I've been having a southwestern chicken salad from this little shop down the street. I work with them and its about the only place I will eat out besides the stuff I know I can have at the Olive Garden. If I don't eat a salad for supper I eat chicken breasts/steak in some shape or form with salsa or just cheese.

I've quit buying cheese almost all together as I know it stops some people's weight loss. I might add it back in so I can have that added fat in my diet. I need to start cooking "real" meals instead of wimping out and being lazy and sticking to the basic meat dishes!

I need to *really* move onto OWL. I started by adding some extra veggies but that didn't last long at all! I moved onto adding in pecans and that went well if I only went up 5g per day but I found the nuts to be addicting so I stopped eating them.

Sorry I just haven't been on here in a while and I feel I need someone to kick my butt back into shape! Letting yourself get in a nasty routine is the last thing we need! HEELP! lol

CAffeine is a diuretic, so you lose water. I'm not a Starbuck's fan because I think the coffee is over-roasted giving it a decidely burnt flavor so I don't know how large an Americano is, but the amount of volume might also be preventing you from eating nutritious foods because you are too full from the drink.

As for the nuts, you don't eat 5 net carbs of them. You eat 1 ounce of most nuts, except for cashews which are limited to 1/2 ounce according to the book.

What you need to do is sit down and write yourself a schedule of daily goals. For example, for Rung 1 your daily goal is the 3 cups of veggies you've been eating during Induction plus 5 net carbs of any Induction veggie.

Do you want us to kick you up the ladder? We can do it! I think you will lose faster if you do move up the ladder. I know I did. Are you exercising? Getting into a rut with diet and exercise will make you stall. It becomes the new normal. Shake things up! Keep your body guessing!

Re: Update...Have I really moved on?

Yeah I supposed I need a but kickin' to get me up the ladder!! haha

I am not exercising currently. I used to go to the gym 3-4 times per week but ever since news of hearing that I have to have surgery this month on my right ankle, I havent been doing muh of anything. It is very discouraging knowing that I'm going to be off of my foot for a month and taking all sorts of medications for quite a while.

Turns out I have dead cartilage in my right ankle and also a piece of it has chipped off so they have to go in and make multiple inscisions to clear up this issue. It takes 6months to 1 year before the cartilage will be completely "regrown" as he put it.

I think this is my core reason for "slacking" in spots... I'm still losing a couple pounds per week but its starting to jump up and back down now whereas its normally more steady of a loss. (to be expected)

I guess I need to get my meals on track. Tomorrow I THINK the farmers market opens up which is GREAT for the veggies!! and they are cheap lol

With the nuts I swore I read that I am supposed to take it up 5g net carbs for the nuts which happened to be 1/2 serving of these tiny bags I found.

Also its finals week so I'm doing nothing but coming home and working on final projects so the added stress is making me less hungry and just the thought of working on finals makes me sick! hahah

        Thanks for the responses

Nuts are 1 ounce, not 5 grams. Cashews are a half ounce.

I know what you are going through with the exercise and surgery. I was forbidden to exercise at all for several months, but was supposed to be allowed to exercise again 6 weeks after surgery in mid-October. Dumb surgeon did the surgery wrong, so I had to wait for three months and have it over again in mid-February. After the second surgery I could do absolutely nothing for a month. Nothing that got my heart rate or blood pressure up at all. I lost so much strength that I still can't do much without getting worn out.

I have many valid reasons not to exercise, but I have found that I can find something to do if I try hard enough. I feel so much better after I get in the groove of exercising 5 days a week.

Yeah I think the bags were 2oz bags so I would only eat half of the bag in a day's time.

I'm gonna go start re-reading the rules of OWL because I'm reading a lot of conflicting information on here (It's conflicting only with what I remember reading).

On a very sad note; It's raining and today was the first day of the farmers market BUT theres ALWAYS next Saturday...

I need to go grocery shopping so I'm trying to make up a list now of items I need to get. I need to review the OWL rules really quickly before I go shopping though.

            Thanks
