  • Cream confusion

    I'm getting a bit confused about the acceptable amounts of cream we can have.

    Having read the book I've been going on 2 - 3 tablespoons a day. But I've looked on a few sites, including some posts here, and I see the limit as 3 ounces.
    Unless my conversions are really, really wrong (totally possible!) 3 ounces is a lot more than 3 tablespoons. Can anyone help me clear this up? I'm sure I'm just having a really dim moment.

    Also - do the limits (whichever way is correct) change on OWL?

    Induction limits on cream is 2 - 3 tablespoons per day. Rung 2 of OWL (the dairy rung) allows you to choose from one of several dairy allowances, one of which is 1/2 cup cream.

        In addition to the daily amount of 2-3 tablespoons of cream on induction you are also allowed to add one of the items in the special category sections if it doesn't impede your weightloss. I suspect this is where the '3 ounces' you have seen mentioned comes from
        Special Category Foods

        To add variety, each day you can also eat ten to twenty olives, half a small avocado, one ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
        Especially note the last sentence in that quote!

          Thank you Elizellen, that IS what I'd been seeing! Somehow I'd convinced myself it was the same thing as the 2-3 tablespoons allowance just converted... strangely.

          I'd stuck to just the 2-3 tablespoons just in case and I'm quite happy with that anyway (plus the scales are moving again!) but it's great to know there's wiggle room.
