  • What to do next....

I have just completed week 1 at Veggies. I lost two pounds :joy , so things are looking good. The majority of my 5 carbs each day came from mushrooms, cucumber, and lettuce. These are all veggies I've had during Induction.

What to do next week? urplequ:

I am planning to stay in veggies for a while. What should I do next week? Please don't tell me either, either!

    1. Add a brand new veggie into my diet and continue to keep my carbs at 25?

    OR

    2. Bump up my veggie intake to 10 (30 total) with induction-legal veggies?

Thanks so much for helping me out with these nagging questions of mine!

Are you planning on doing the veggie rung twice? How many veggies do you want to try that you have not tried yet?

I'm not sure what you mean by twice. I was planning to stay in veggies a while and experiment a little. (Being at this rung once, but for an extended time)

This is the point where I'm a little confused with OWL. What should be the next step?

      Thanks!

It was your comment about going up 10 carbs that made me ask about doing the veggie rung twice, which is perfectly fine if you are a big veggie eater. If that is not your intent, then just stay at the same carb level and add new veggies. There are a lot of veggies to eat and I highly encourage you to take your time and experiment. You should strive for how you believe you'll be eating in maintenance.

Once you are done experimenting with veggies, the next step is to add up to five net carbs of dairy and begin experimenting there. Dairy is good because there are a lot of recipes that call for dairy in them, along with milk, cream, yogurt, etc. Yum!!!

          Elleth -

So keeping the carbs at 25 and experimenting with new veggies would be the way to go? And as for length of time doing this, keep going and each week, maybe try a new veggie and see which ones work and which don't (like those grape tomatoes).

If what I typed above is correct, that works for me. BTW, how long did you stay at each rung?

          Thanks! :wave

You've got it! The more time you take with each rung, the better prepared you'll be for lifetime eating.

I've stayed a different amount of time on each rung. I did induction for three weeks, then moved up quickly to the nuts/seeds rung. I wanted to be there for Thanksgiving and my birthday (the day after) so I could have chocolate peanut butter cheesecake and homemade ice-cream. I am very boring with my eating and have only a few different things I eat, so I didn't need to spend a lot of time on each rung. If you click on the link in my signature for my atkins progress, I have a little chart below the pictures that shows things such as my weight and when I changed rungs.
