  • green beans and fitday

I always use Akins carb counter and I'm trying to use Fitday to get my ratios correct. On atkins it say 1/2 cup of green beans are 2.9, which would make 1 cup 5.8. On fitday it's listing green snap beans as 10 carbs per cup. Why is there so big of a difference?

Are you subtracting the fiber from fitday's green bean carb count? That could be the difference.

You're right, I forgot to subtract the fiber. I don't like that fitday doesn't do 1/2. If something is 2.5 carbs it always rounds up to 3.

        Re: green beans and fitday

How I reassure myself about fractions is to change the quantity to for example 10 cups and look at the carbs. Then divide it by 10 to know what the more accurate count should be.

So if something is listed at having for example 2 carbs per cup I change it temporarily to 10 cups and then see what it is shown to be.
If it says 16 carbs for 10 cups or servings of something then I know 1 cup is 1.6 carbs, even though fitday will show one cup as having 2 carbs (rounding it up) or if it says 24 carbs for 10 cups then I know 1 cup is 2.4 carbs though again fitday will call it 2 carbs (rounding it down).

BTW if you have several foods that are rounded up or down, fitday will use the actual amounts and so when they are added up the totals allow for the more accurate fractions of one carb.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
