  • yikes - toasted pumpkin seeds!!

Wow - I just toasted an ounce of shelled pumpkin seeds in the grill pan which I had cooked some bacon in so there was a little bacon fat as well.
After sprinkling them with a tiny amount of sea salt all I can say is :yikes :yikes :yikes.

I hope that they dont affect me badly as they are a snack I really liked!
Nice and crunchy but not as fatty as pork scratchings and so far I have been able to resist eating whole mouthfuls of them at once but am taking only one at a time out of the container.

I took Moochiecat's advice (posted in a thread about sweets in induction) and decided not to start eating packets of ready roasted nuts but make sure they took some time to prepare to stop me going overboard with them.

If they dont bring me out in cravings I might do some again this weekend.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I make pumpkin seeds ALL the time i LOVE them..they're my favorite snack! i put all different spices on them..i've also tried parmesan as well. they're awesome! And i seem to have a better time controlling myself with them more than nuts.

I've also heard they're extremely good for you... One of the 'perfect' foods.

okay i got to ask as I have a recipe that says to use ground pumpkin seeds and I was leary of all that sheel too in the food how did you get the shells off the pumpkin seeds?

I can't exactly crack them with my teeth like I do when I eat them and spit the insides into the measuring cup of grinding.

I actually eat the shells, I like them unshelled!

but I also do buy them already shelled as well..I get them in the nuts/snacks section of the grocery store (where all the trail mixes bulk stuff is etc) I've actually yet to see shell-on, unroasted pumpkin seeds. I find the roasted ones usually come with the shell.

LOL LOL we only have them salted in the shells in the snack food section of the grocery store. I'llhave to see if the Epecurian has them shelled

the recipe is for a spread and the ground seeds are the base then you start adding spices depending on ig you was spicy savory or sweet

Yep they're green..funny first time I saw them i thought they'd mislabelled the package!

Guacamole is green? if you look at it that way doesn't seem so gross....
