  • 4 weeks In..15 pounds lighter!

    Hi All:

After a mini stall (10 days to be exact), I dropped 3.5 lbs when I weighed this morning....life is great! I have been on induction for a month now, well maybe a modified induction (the last few days). I do eat nuts now and added a couple more servings of veggies.

I want to lose another 7 to 10 pounds and plan to move to owl now. Any tips? I know that I have to gradually add foods (no more than 5 carbs). I have gotten all of my info from the Atkins website. I don't have the book yet, it seems that when I'm out and about, I never think to buy it. I will be out shopping tomorrow and I will remember to buy it.

Thanks to all for your feedback and support!

Congrats on your loss! That is wonderful. Is was so inspiring to read that you stalled for 10 days but then had a 3.5 lb loss. FABULOUS!

My weight loss has slowed dramatically during the second week of induction but I'm anxious to start OWL. 2 more days! Better stock up on those veggies!

By adding more veggies and nuts, you have already started OWL. Rung 1 is adding more veggies, rung 2 is adding fresh cheeses (cottage cheese, etc.) and rung 3 is nuts and seeds. When adding seeds and nuts, it's not 5 grams of carbs, it's 1 ounce of all nuts except cashews and you can only add 1/2 an ounce of them. You really need to have the book. I can't imagine doing OWL without it. The website is way off.

Congrats on 15 pounds in 4 weeks!

          Hi Sunny,

I am picking up the Atkins book tomorrow. I guess I thought I was still in induction because maybe once or twice a week I have nuts...and during my stall I started to eat more veggies and eggs. It seems to have gotten me over the stall. I was going crazy wondering why I couldn't lose....then I realized that I really ate very very small portions of the induction foods...there was not fat to burn....so what I really had to do is eat more often and moderate portions.

          Thanks for your input.

By the way, I felt so good about the weight loss that I went shopping and this is the first time in 3 years that I was able to buy a sleeveless knit top! My arms looked normal....still have 8 to 10 pounds to go, but I'm thrilled.

Stay encouraged, sometimes it takes our body time to adjust and readjust. I was baffled about my stall...to the point that I started to eat less...determined to move that scale and it didn't move. I started to eat more of the foods that were on induction and stayed away from the scale for several days, continued my exercise and it finally happened.

The funny thing is that I ate around 8pm last night (dinner), bacon and green beans....my daughter thought I was crazy, but that is what I wanted....drank alot of water. I surely thought the scale would be cruel this morning, but I was happy..3.5 pounds gone forever.

            Happy losing!
