  • Rung climbing question??

I can't seem to find this in the book.

When one is climbing the rungs... if I were on rung 1, veggies, and I added 5 carbs a day of veggies... then I made it to rung 2, dairy right?, and I added 5 carbs a day of dairy, I would be at 30 grams a day. But do you have to go up to 30, or can you eat 5 carbs everyother day of veggies, and the other days dairy. You know, so that you are climbing the rungs, but not adding to your daily # of carbs? 5 a day of this, 5 a day of that, instead of 10 a day of both... at your discretion, or do you have to/or should go up to the next 5 carb increment daily?

    That's correct.

It's best to find your CCLL, imo. That way, you'll have more flexibility with your menues. For example, let's say you find your CCLL to be 45. You know that you may eat 45 net carbs daily and still lose weight. So you might choose to hover around 30-40 net carbs daily, but if you choose, you know you can eat up to 45 without worrying about "eating too much and not losing." This comes in handy if you are eating out, like during a picnic or a party.

You don't want to get into the position of some OWLers who never find their CCLL because they are afraid to eat more than 30 net carbs daily. Knowing your CCLL is important for your Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance phases.

So, when I get to my CCCL, I still climb the rungs, but not add to my daily carbs after that number, right? =D
      Thanks in advance!

Yes. Let's say you find your CCLL to be 35 and you are on Rung 4. You can still climb up the ladder trying out the different foods, but limiting yourself to the 35 net carbs daily.

I was one of the ones that did this...so I can tell you from experience Meg's is right, your best not to modify your OWL but to keep climbing and keep going up in carbs until you find your ccll.

              Re: Rung climbing question??

I'm jumping in this thread because I have a question about rungs as well. I'm up to 45 carbs daily and I'm still losing. I am wondering how I'm going to fit in 50 carbs daily. I'm not at all hungry. In order to know my CCLL I need to keep eating to see how my body reacts. Does anyone have any advice on how to find my CCLL and eat more carbs when I'm finding it hard to eat 45 now? This Sunday I start 50 carbs and I love to switch up my menus so I don't get board. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
