  • How much can/do your days vary?

I FINALLY got my info into fitday...

    Yesterday was: 1932 calories 150 74% fat, 27 3% carbs, 110 23% protien

    The day before was: 1168 calories 107 83% fat, 11 2% carbs, 45 15% protien

I'm asking because some days I'm just not hungry...I know the book says to eat til you feel satisfied and some days that just isn't much food.

Other days I'm hungry and I'm eating quite a few calories, etc.

I'm assuming they will even themselves out in the end?

    Hi, Tammy,

I generally eat around 1700 and 2000 calories a day roughly.

What does vary on a daily basis, is how I eat those calories. Sometimes I have 6 small meals throughout the day and other days maybe a large meal in the morning and 2 smaller meals during the day, etc.

I try to avoid being hungry, as that causes me to want to cheat on "illegal" foods. When I feel the slightest hunger, I eat.

Also, I'd rather go "over" my calories for a day with "legal" food some days than take the chance of getting too hungry and falling off the wagon by cheating for who knows how long!

Kelly- I know the book says to eat until we are satisfied, but is there anywhere where it tells us a range of calories to shoot for?
I"m a 5'10 female eating between 1500-1900 calories a day. Is that acceptable?

I typically don't count calories because I find that some days my body needs more food than other days. So I just listen to it.

Hi, Carissa, nice to talk with a fellow tall person! What you need for caloric intake depends on many variables. You may want to see what your BMR is through www.fitday.com to get an estimate.

I love, love www.fitday.com for calculating calories, BMR, etc. It is free and estimates what an individual needs to maintain basal metabolism and how many calories you burn during the day, etc.

          I hope this helps.

listen to your body and feed your huynger like a small child does. Starvation mode doesn't set in for missing your BMR for a day or two. You will have appetite and hunger increases and decreases but feed your hunger and stop no matter how much food is on the plate, room is in your belly or carbs oin your budget. You can eat again and again as soon as your hunger returns on Atkins.

My weekdays are similar to each other, but weekends vary, usually. Depends on scheduling, mainly.

Presently, as I'm working, my weekdays consist of:

Breakfast - flax cereal (my creation) with plain yogurt (usually)

Lunch - salad (greens, couple cherry tomatoes, black olives, peppers, cucumbers) and protein selection (leftovers, boiled eggs, cheese). I don't always have all the above (the greens are consistent, but the others depend on what's in the fridge). I take the additions to the greens, put them in a container with a little oil and herbs or salad dressing, and leave it to marinate till lunch. Then I mix it together - makes for a less soggy salad.

Evening meal - protein source (chicken, pork chop, tofu, beef) and vegetable, usually freshly cooked.

Snacks through the day - sometimes. May consist of nuts, cheese, mini flax muffins (just a mini one is usually enough - rather than a regular sized one). Sometimes I add cream cheese or butter to the muffin.

Boring, I know, but it seems to work for me and my schedule.
