I'm going to weigh in tomorrow and begin OWL rung 1! I'm excited and feel really challenged at the same time. I've been eating about 15 carbs per day. I am so stuffed....... This seems really daunting right now.

    Re: starting OWL

good luck in starting OWL. rung 1 is really not too awfully difficult. it is a good time to try something new. for instance, if you haven't been eating jicama or pumpkin during induction, those would be excellent choices to add. they are a little higher in carbs also, and will help in getting in your 5 more net carbs. i added pumpkin into my diet when i started OWL and it was great. i tried it a couple different ways. when i made the mock danish, i added some pumpkin in it and it gave it a great new taste. also, i made like a pumpkin pudding using cream cheese, splenda and some cinnamon and nutmeg. i love it for breakfast just to heat it up with cinnamon and splenda.

just remember, if you are adding a new food during OWL, to only eat it three times a week. so if for instance if you were adding asparagus and turnips(just examples) to your diet, you could have asparagus on monday, wednesday and friday. then turnips on tuesday, thursday and saturday.

once again, i wish you much success and feel free to ask if you have questions or concerns.

Good for you on starting OWL! Its a great time of year to add more veggies, most gardens are just starting to come in (at least here in Michigan). I added Cucumbers last week, and they gave me terrible cravings! I would have never guessed that Cucumbers would bother me, but I guess that is what OWL is all about. You are going to do great, I have been reading your posts and you know your stuff. You will have to post your before/after pics soon!!
Try to get 80-100 ounces a day!

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

Spaghetti Squash is another one that is good to do on rung one. It is good with some tomato sauce and cheese on.
My favourite is soup. I love soups with a cauliflower and cream base.

I'm adding spinach today. I weighed myself this morning and I am down 4 more lbs! I am so xcited - I can really feel a difference in my clothes now and I'm even starting to like my arms lol

I had a really bad reaction to tomatoes on induction....but with summer so bountiful and somany recipes calling for them should I wait awhile to try them again see if they trigger (I felt literally drugged and in a haze -no cravings). I'm thinking I want to wait awhile - but how long?

We went to the farmers market yesterday and I got spaghetti squash, turnips, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli...it's all gorgeous - yummy! I'm excited to try some new things (manly the turnips) and pleased to have the squash back to re-visit!

Have you tried the Debbie Meyer Green Bags?? They really work, and help keep those veggies fresh longer. I love them!
Great job on the 4 pounds. Don't you love getting to change your signature??

I like turnip fries. I cut the turnip up like fries, add some oil, salt and pepper and then bake them. They are not crispy like potatoes but have a really good carmalized taste when they come out of the oven.
              Congrat on the pounds lost.

Not sure about the tomatoes. But I think it is good to try them again because things can change.

Spinach is a great veggie, but just remember---for OWL Rung 1 you add 5 net carbs of any Induction veggie. So might want to eat that spinach cooked or if you must have it as a salad, have it as a wilted salad---otherwise you'll be eating a large volume of it!

Thanks for the tip murphy'smom. I always just figured those were a scam. I feel like I have to throw things away too often.

                  Turnip fries sound good too.

Your welcome, Scarlet! They do work, I was surprised. I usually don't bother with TV stuff, but I hate throwing away veggies!! I was so very happy that they worked.
