I didn't eat dairy on induction. I maybe had 1 tbsp of cream/day, and not on all days. So for me the dairy rung is simply introducing it, rather than adding 5 more carbs. Does this mean I should add more than 5? Or just stick to 5 total carbs/dairy/day?

    Re: dairy rung

    That's a great question.

I added 5 carbs of dairy allowance for each day on the dairy rung (I went by the book on this one)...and that was basically adding more choices of dairy like fresh cheeses, cottage cheese, heavy cream, yogurt in small portions so that I could have those choices throughout the day. I guess I pretty much divided that 5 carbs in 2-3 different ways so I would have that variety.

Gosh, I hope that helps you!

      Re: dairy rung

The dairy you introduce in OWL is fresh dairy products, such as milk and milk products (like yogurt, kefir, etc.) and the "Fresh" cheeses. "Fresh cheeses are cheeses that haven't been aged, such as cottage cheese, ricotta, farmer's cheese, etc. These fresh cheeses and milk products have more carbs than the "Induction dairy" (cream, butter, and aged cheeses.)

So if it's an "Induction dairy" that you are introducing, stick to the "Induction" levels. If it's an OWL dairy that you are introducing, stick to the 5 net carb limit.

Gosh, that makes sense, especially if you haven't had the induction amount.
