  • Not counting carbs......

The hardest thing for me to do is keep track of my carbs.
Now...I have been stumbling through some of the rungs and am afraid this will be my Throw in the towel moment soon.

The second rung, more cheese! We were allowed 3-4 oz. in Induction, right? Anymore cheese and I will be where I was in Induction. (Constipation)

Third rung, tried the nuts and seeds and really they are not for me.

Fourth rung, Decided I would have the berries instead of the nuts and switch them around...just what the Dr. ordered for my sweet tooth. I didnt realize how much I loved them until now...added heavy cream whipped. Ate these last week and then stopped.

Now, I have begun OWL, I am really lost not counting, but continue to lose and not cheat.

So, I have discovered as I did some more reading and writing to the board, maybe I should do the "Power of Five"?

    Lastly,
my goal will be to start counting, but not drive myself crazy to the point where I give into failure....
I have come a long way since April and without "Atkins" and all the support I would never have made it.
But, I can still smell danger ahead, especially since I have lost weight...cheats may be lurking.

Anyone else experiencing the same thinking?

    Thanks for Listening!

    Re: Not counting carbs......

You have to hang in there. Look at how much you have accomplished. You're underway: Keep going.

I think you have to count carbs and be a bit systematic. You want to find your CCLL and the only way to do that is to keep an eye on the carbs.

The second rung is not about more cheese but about cheeses or dairy we did not do on induction - like yogurt and cottage cheese.

The nut rung is my favourite - you can bake with flax and almond flour.

I think berries are healthy and I eat some almost daily but you have to watch portions.

The first rung is probably the most important - we need to continue to get the majority of our carbs from veggies - and experiment with different kinds. It could be fun.

I understand that it can be hard to keep track all the time. Have you tried any of the on line tools - like fitday? It helps me a lot.

Well, you should be doing the Power of Five, because that's how Dr. Atkins formulated OWL---adding 5 net carbs of foods to your diet. If you aren't organized, you might find yourself in alot of trouble during OWL and Pre-Maintenance.

I can't stand fitday. So I track my carbs with a notebook, pen and a carb counter book.

You've come so far - congratulations on your success! FitDay can be exhausting if you need to find all the different foods. It does help if you add you can personalize your foods. Don't stress about FitDay, find something that works for you. As you move through the rungs, you're more satisfied with this WOE.
