I'm going to go back to induction for a week or two and see what happens. Since I started OWL, my weight loss has slowed to a crawl and then stopped. I'm assuming that it's the Splenda or that I got a little lax with cream cheese and heavy cream, but until I get back on track, I'm just going to jump over to extended induction. I still have about 30 pounds to go, but I want to be able to do this forever, so I need to go back to where it was really working and then start moving forward again from there.

Dropping back down to extended induction....

Re: Dropping back down to extended induction....
You could drop down to rung one. I sort of do that when I feel bad habits creeping in on me. Just get back to more basic eating and letting most of your carbs come from veggies.
Dairy can be tricky - I give you that. And eventually we have to learn how we can live with it - how much we can eat and what we can eat.

There is absolutely NO NEED to go back to Induction!!!!!!!Originally posted by zoewmu View PostI'm going to go back to induction for a week or two and see what happens. You do this first.
1. Drop whatever new food you have added. For example, if you are on Rung 2 and you added almonds and your weight loss stopped, drop the almonds and see what happens. If you start losing weight again, you can pretty much cross almonds off your OWL foods list.
2. Review your menues----every food that you eat PLUS the amounts. If you are eating too much of a food, go back to eating the appropriate amounts and see what happens.
3. If you try 1 and 2 and nothing seems to help, then drop your carb intake by 5 net carbs, and see what happens. If you start losing weight again, congrats---you found your CCLL.
Going back to Induction is a step backwards, not a step forwards. The only time you should even consider going back to Induction is if you completely mess up (like eating 200 carbs daily because you got sloppy with your OWL) and fall out of ketosis. In that case, you go back to Induction level for 3-4 days in order to get back into ketosis, then you pick up your OWL where you left off.~Megs~

Re: Dropping back down to extended induction....
I know. The only foods I've really added are cottage cheese and berries. I really just need to be less sloppy about how much dairy and splenda I'm eating, I think. I'm positive the berries are not negatively affecting me. The cottage cheese probably wouldn't be either, if I wasn't being so generous with the heavy cream and cream cheese. I started drinking decaf with cream and splenda in the mornings and then I started craving dairy stuff, so I figure coffee is going to have to be an occasional treat not an everyday thing.Originally posted by not2late View PostThere is absolutely NO NEED to go back to Induction!!!!!!!
I just want to get a better handle on what I'm eating so I'm going to forgo cream cheese, heavy cream and splenda for a week and see if I can get myself back under control.

Drop the berries and drop the cottage cheese and go back to Rung 1. Drop the decaf too.Originally posted by zoewmu View PostI know. The only foods I've really added are cottage cheese and berries. While on Rung 1, be strict and count/measure everything you eat of drink. You have to get used to being accountable.
Then move up the ladder as Dr. Atkins wrote it.
As I said, there is NO NEED to go back to Induction in your case. You really just need to be more vigilant about counting and measuring---and Induction won't teach you that.

Re: Dropping back down to extended induction....
Hi there,
I too got into the OWL, and I dropped like 2 lbs, but then I started adding more of the dairy like you, and then I went up a lb., so I was thinking about going back to induction- but then I remebered reading this thread- and I think I 'll try the advice given. Have you tried the tips yet- has it worked for you?

I bet if you just dropped the Splenda you would go back to losing and the cravings would go away. It seems like I saw on this board somewhere the info about Splenda, for some people, stimulating cravings. I know that it does for me.redfoxglove
