  • New to OWL, some questions, fitday?

Hey Everybody. I just started OWL yesterday with some great coaching by Elizellen. So far I'm doing pretty good.

I noticed a lot of people use fitday to calculate their daily intake. Am I doing something wrong? It looks like it only calculates total carb, not net carb. For an onion it put down 29g carb. The Atkins info in the DANDR says onion has 9g/7.5 net.

    ??

For just the ingredients I used for a saute for bkfast (2 eggs, 3T olive oil, 1/2 large onion, 1 small zucchini, 4oz mushrooms, 3T mozzarella) it has me at over 34g...

It doesn't give you net carbs for individual food items, but it gives you enough information in the summary to calculate it. When you're in the food section, look below your individual food items for the Calories summary (next to the pie chart). There it lists total daily carbs and dietary fiber. Subtract the fiber from the total for net.

    Congrats on your good start!

okay, Jimbo, I'll look next time I go in there...I just wonder why it says an onion has 29g when the Atkins counter says 9g/7.5 net?

Thanks for the info, I'll keep working with it a bit. Mostly I keep my food list in a purse sized notebook, but this fitday looks like a way to check my work.

Thanks for the congrats, I am totally jazzed at how this is going for me...

It may be that something is entered wrongly in fitday (which is very easy to do when you start using it).

You can allow others to see your fitday food entries just to check you have entered them correctly by going to the 'profile' tab once you log on then scrolling down to the bottom and click on the 'make my journal public' button. It will then give you a url you can post here.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
