I haven't had to thicken anything, but Ellen mentioned something called Guar gum. Also I have heard of 'Thick n thin/not starch' which you would likely get at health food stores. I take it this is something you can't just add cream too? or some puree'd veggies?

Depends on what you are thickening and what phase of Atkins you are in.

I use Arrowroot, As Megs mentioned about Rungs. You have to be at Rung 8 Starchy Vegetables using Arrowroot.

Pureed veggies or cream are the best option if you are on induction. Soy flour would be OK on rung 6 of OWL (if you can stand the taste of it).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Hi,

You can use egg yolkes to thicken almost anything. Seperate yolkes from whites then beat the yolkes. Ad some of the hot liquid which needs to be thickened a little at a time to the yolkes to warm them. Then add them to the dish and stir. Should do the trick.

I use xanthan gum, it only takes a very small amount and what you thicken does not have to be hot. Get it at the health food store or the health food section of some larger grocery stores.
