  • stuck for food..best options without stalling

Okay now in a predicament, ecomomy crashing etc that I have not much food for the next 4-5 days.

Is the best option to just have water or to eat a little when I can for the next week?

I will continue as normal once I am able to stock up...just want to avoid starvation mode for the next 4 days really.

Any advice would be fabulous. really dont want to ruin things as I am feeling so great on this!

I always buy "family packs" for meat, like chicken, pork or beef and store them in my freezer. For example, I buy a 10 pound bag of chicken leg quarters ( they include the legs and the thighs). There about about 5-6 leg quarters in that bag. So that means I can make 5-6 meals out of it. A family pack of pork chops contain about 8 chops, so, that's either 8 meals (if I'm feeling like only eating one chop per meal) or 4 meals (if I want 2 chops per meal).

I buy frozen vegetables, like green/string beans, cauliflower, broccoli, etc. And keep them in the freezer. I buy some canned vegetables too.

Pantry staples like onions and garlic, I buy at store them for future use.

I don't purchase any of the low carb speciality foods, like bars, shakes, etc. etc. because they are too expensive and, more importantly, they aren't "real food" like a pork chop or a chicken leg. I figure if I'm going to spend $5 on protein shakes, I might as well spend that $5 on a steak or eggs or a really nice cheese.

I also shop at "dollar stores". Some of them have canned goods, like tuna, and some canned veggies like tomatoes, at an inexpensive price.

We just did the same thing that Megs shared, stock up and buy in bulk, recently because we could. But before we were able to do that, I had to buy yogurt, canned veggies, and deal with the foods that were available to me on the rungs that I was on. I think during these tough times you can find some great deals on canned veggies (well, around our state it seems like its the time of the year to put the veggies people will eat for the holidays on sale early). You need to eat when you're hungry. It may not be what you're hungry for, but the veggies, fats, dairy, etc. that you are eating will help get you through the day and not go into "starvation" mode.
