  • Shirataki Noodles

Ok, I am NOT picking on you Tamarind - I promise. but I had never heard of shirataki and I am a HUGE soup fan and with winter coming this peaked my interest. But i am reading about them online. They are tofu based.....right? So if they are tofu based and soy beans are a legume then aren't they off limits until Rung 6 Legumes? I realize that they are mostly fiber but if you were using them as a fiber source - wouldn't you then have to put them under the "exceptional" catagory and only eat them in tiny amounts sparsely??

I think I am going to put this off until I reach goal or Rung 6 - which ever comes first....

Not all shiratake noodles are tofu based. They do sell Tofu Shiritake noodles, but they are also made without. They are made with Konjac (I think) and it's a type of japanese yam (nothing like the yams you and I know). They are primarily fiber.

Just my 2 cents. I realize this post was intended for someone else.

Some shiritake noodles have tofu mixed into them. The tofu gives them an appearance like pasta. Other shiritake noodles don't and look more like the cellophane noodles you'll find in some Asian recipes.

Again, tamarind should drop the noodles from the menu and see if they are causing the cravings. If they are, then that's terrific because tamarind will know that shiritake noodles are a food that isn't good for them at this point and can avoid them. That's one of the things about OWL Phase---to find out what foods affect your body/your weight loss.

I'm a girl lol. The noodles I had didn't have tofu though I did buy those to keep when I get to the been rung. I'm not a fan of soy and it kinda messes with my hormones but if these taste like pasta then I might consider it.
The brand I have is Miyako. They have a nice springy taste and remind me of bean thread noodles but a bit softer.

I think the cravings was just caused by lack of fat. I was googling about it and it seems other people have it too and is usually resolved by well, adding more fat. Nothing some butter can't solve.

I was concerned that dropping one craving (carbs) only to have another (fat) was a bad thing but it seems like if you're craving fat, then your body needs it though the opposite is true for carbs.
