  • Soy Milk?

    So it's beena while, since I've been here, and I think I've been hanging with this diet pretty well. I'm consuming about 30 to 35 carbs per day (at most), and I feel really good about my food choices. I'm ready to experiment a bit, since I've gotten through all the rungs.

    I've been playing with a couple of things that I'd like your insights on (I haven't really experienced anything horrible yet, but I'd like to be made aware if I might expect something down the road).

    Maybe once or twice a week I'll have a 9 carb flaxseed waffle. Is this too often, generally?

    Also, on days where I feel like I need to eat something but don't have time, I've been drinking glucose controlled boost, which has something like 12 or 13 carbs. Because I sometimes snack on sunflower seeds on these days, I am still able to stay within the 30 carb range. But is this too many carbs for one meal?

    And finally, I've come across light Vanilla soy milk which is 9 carbs per cup (I've been having a half cup), and it's a nice tasty treat at the end of the day. So good, that for some reason I think it must be bad, hence why I'm asking

      As far as soy milk goes, if you made it through all the rungs and the milk fits within your daily carb limit and does not affect your weight loss then enjoy! Personally, I'm a huge fan of soy milk just be mindful of the ingredient list as added sugar can quickly sneak into some brands and flavors. The white stuff is never good for us no matter what phase or rung we're on.

        If you like soy milk try Unsweetened Almond Breeze by Blue Diamond. I like the vanilla and it has 1 net carb per 8 ounces. It tastes like milk to me. It is about $2 for a 32 Ounce carton. I am not at that rung of OWL yet so it is off limits for me. It is however very good. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
