  • Figuring out 'Hidden Carbs'

So the, SCHMIDT'S OLD TYME DOUBLE FIBER BREAD
    would add up:

    Fat 1 gram x 9 = 9 calories
    Protein 4 gram x 4 = 16 calories
    Carbs 7 x 4 = 28 calories

9+16+28 = 53 calories ... not the 80 calories listed on the nutritional information.

Did I get that right? Wow! I can't thank you enough for that information. If we are trusting this information, this could certainly be a cause of stalling weight loss when the daily carb count is being tallied.

To find the total carb amount, (prior to subtracting for fiber) is it safe to conclude that:
80 calories (claimed on nutritional information) minus 53 calories in calculating fat, protein, & carb calories = 27 calories unaccounted for,
therefore: 27 calories divided by 4 (carb grams) = 6.75 grams of carbohydrate above the label information, for a total of 13.75 carbs?

Wow. 13.75 total carbs minus 5 fiber = 8.75 net carbs.
That's still higher than the 8 that you would estimate using the fiber plus the sugar method.

    Re: Product Alert!

I think the Atkins bars are misleading as well. Granted I love them, especially the cinnamon bun ones (1 carb each-their claim) BUT, I don't know if I can trust their email to me explaining all the "hidden" things that can be subtracted from the beginning carbs.

So I am careful not to over do because I think this is truly something that IS too good to be true!
