well today is Christmas day and I cheated big time. This is always the part where I usually would say screw it, I'm done. I don't want to feel that way. I don't want to feel guilty. I have been on this diet for 3 weeks and I lost 20lbs. I know that these things happen and that it's reality. But how do u push past the guilt and pickup where u left off. Please help to make me feel better. Thank you

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
No worries! One day isn't going to make you gain back all 20 pounds. You don't need to make yourself feel guilty - you haven't failed.
I'm going to have been off my eating plan for Christmas as well, but that doesn't mean I haven't been working out, or that I'm planning to quit. When we get home tomorrow I will simply go back to eating the way I was. I'll just keep plugging along! You can do that too.
Congrats on the 20 pounds!

OK - good thing you still have a hold of the tailgate, now climb back on, before you lose your grip. Don't give up, because the further you let yourself fall, the harder it is to get back up (and/or the longer it takes to catch up to the wagon ...)~Susan

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
thank you both so much. I've always had this all or nothing attitude and it took me years to get to this point to go on atkins. I know I wasn't going to let myself completely get off this train. But old habits die hard and I'm usually such a quiter at this point but not this time. No one is perfect, right? Thanks again. Off to owl againSW261

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
Giving up is the easy way out.
Anything worth having is tough, otherwise everyone would do it.
Just get back on the horse and go."I'm big boned" ...Um, nobody has bones that big....
Buffalo wings, not just for breakfast anymore.
Hey baby, how do you like bald fat guys with no money?

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
I cheated a couple of months ago and punished myself with running extra laps. I HATE running, so I won't be cheating much anymore. The point I am trying to make is just go extra strict for a couple of days tho get back in ketosis. Then ask yourself if those last couple of days of strict induction was worth that brief moment of ecstasy? Keep your chin up and visit here often for encouragement! Good luck and Happy New Year!

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
I always used to have that all or nothing mentality, too. By learning one cheat wasn't the end of the world, and recognizing it did NOT undo all my progress... unless I let it continue... I lost 90 pounds on Atkins. Then, I had one too many cheats that I couldn't bounce back from and regained 50 of it. Don't let that happen to you!
Forgive yourself this cheat, and hope RIGHT back on the wagon. I know it's tempting to say... well, I'll just wait until New Years (or something like that). Don't -- recommit immediately if you haven't already.
Focus on being down a pound or two more by New Year's.... think about how nice it will be to not make "start a diet/lose weight" your New Year's Resolution -- because you're already well on your way!

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
Like others have said I know what you mean. In the past if I would have cheated on Christmas I would have said F'it and then cheated and said to myself "I'll start again come the New years. Then it would have been a week later and I would have not started again and here comes the terrible cycle all over again.
PLEEAAASSEEE just get back on the program now if you can. Slipping back will make you feel much worse in the long run.
So you gained a few pounds back; you have still lost a lot. Keep up the great work!!

I can't thankyou all enough. I have to say that one of the reasons I have stayed with this plan is because I have this to turn too. I being totally serious.I come on here everyday sometimes several times a day to stay motivated. I have all of you to thank for keeping me going after my cheat.SW261

Re: Well I did it....I fell off
We are supportive here, but don't mistake that support for condoning your cheat. According to your stats, you have about 110 pounds to lose and you want to do it by July. Just remember each set back you have, whether it's the upcoming New Year's celebration or Valentine's Day or whatever other event that happens between now and July has the potential to delay you reaching your goal. I've seen this happen more times than I care to see.Originally posted by Im2sexy4thisfat View PostI can't thankyou all enough. So the most important things to do, in addition to getting back on plan, is to sit down, figure out exactly why you choose to fall off the Diet and to develop coping mechanisms to deal with those issues in the future. Let's face it, there will ALWAYS be an excuse to fall off the diet. It could be anything from a birthday party or a friend asking you to go to lunch or dinner tonight or the mere fact you had a horrible day at work.
So figure out why you fell off and develop strategies that will prevent you from falling off in the future.
