  • hi!

well i've been posting in extended induction for awhile, but i'm essentially doing owl now cause i've started to eat some berries here and there. i had some blackberries and strawberries a few weeks ago, and i recently had some almonds to snack on. i don't think i'm introducting them exactly how you are supposed to do, with the rungs. i never eat these foods more than a few times a week though, which i think is a step in the right direction. i'm not really interested in bringing a lot of new foods into the mix yet, i'm content with my berries and nuts! anyways..i just thought i'd say hello to everyone and any advice or comments would be nice! :wave

    Hi Michigan, Welcome ha

It's true, you are not doing the rungs correctly. However, if you are getting results then that is good.

There will be others along to set you straight LOL

Take a look at the stickies at the top of this (OWL) forum and you will see what is in each rung and how to introduce them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

        Hi!
I started the same way. I'm having a few almonds or almond butter and some raspberries this week. I haven't lost any, but haven't gained any either. I just really missed the fruit! I'm dying for an orange. Do you think half would be okay instead of the raspberries?

Hi Michigan and Kay. Welcome to OWL!

You will have the best chance at success with the diet if you follow the ladder and experiment with different foods in the right order. I definately would not jump right to oranges. They are very high up the ladder!

Best of luck to you both.

yep Dr atkins placed the foods added back in the order he did based on their effect on your blood sugars and as we now the bloos sugar increases are the insulin triggerring things in our boies and while the insulin is out playing with the blood sugar increase the glucagon can't come out and play with the fats so the fats get sent to their rooms (that would be the fat cells). And of course there are those nasty cravies the higher GI foods at the top end of the ladder produce.

So take that foundation you build in induction with your veggies and frame your life long healthy eatting habits to maintain your healthier smaller self with the corrct supporting beams and posts following the Atkins OPWL carbohydrate ladder during this great food experiment called OWL so your Atkins house doesn't come crashing down and you become oneof those who says Atkins stopped woprking for me.

            Happy OLwing.

              Thanks!
I think I just needed a little reminder. I have noticed the increase in the cravings, but luckily I've been able to stop them.
              Wish me luck!
