  • Confused about dairy rung

I am a little confused about the dairy rung.

Okay, so I have to add 5 grams of dairy each day, such as fresh cheeses.
It also says we can have hard aged cheese, sour cream, etc but to keep the portions small. Does that mean that if you have these, you should not have 5 grams of these items when you have them, instead have a little bit and add some other dairy from the fresh cheeses list?

Also, any examples of some fresh cheeses besides cottage cheese, farmer’s cheese (can't find this locally), ricotta cheese and pot cheese (can't find this locally)?

I've been eating cheddar cheese (old and medium) since induction.

Cheese is very calorie dense. 1 ounce of a hard aged cheese typically has about 100 or so calories.

What on the days I eat yogurt or cottage cheese, I either don't eat the 3-4 ounces of aged cheese or I eat 2 ounces of it. My body responds better when I do this. Others might be able to eat more.

Here's a link to a site with fresh cheeses

Note they list Cream Cheese as a fresh cheese, techically it is, but it's also allowed during Induction for Atkins.
