  • Just Starting Rung 1

    Just completed my 2-weeks of Boot Camp and decided that I'm going to move into OWL and follow the rungs this time. Please don't ask me how I did OWL last year; cause I've learned so much more about Atkins since finding this site.

    Now, if I understand this correctly I should add 5 carbs/day from vegetables for this week, but this is the part I don't understand:

    "Eat a food group no more than 3x per week to start. Then you may eat it daily"

    Does this not apply to the vege rung?

    It applies to the vege rung and all other rungs if it is a food you haven't had before on induction. So if on induction you had say brocolli as a 3cup vege then you can add another 5 net grams of it daily. If you want to add turnip and you haven't had that yet, then you'd add it 3x a week and then if no probs daily.

      Welcomne to the great Atkins food experiment phase where you will discover how each food group, and foods withing each group along with increases in total net carbs consumed effect your craving controls and your weight loss. Remember to always have a fat with your new carby foods and if any food gives you cravings stop eatting that food immediately at this time in your Atkins journey.


      what Loonatika is trying to say is it was a misprint in DANDR and should say a new food not new food group so if a food is new to you since you started Atkins don't eat that food more then 3 times the first time you decide to have it no matter what rung you are on.

      you can have more then one new to you food in a week but each food should not be more then 3 times so you can see in a controlled manner its effect on you.

        Thanks loonatika and 2big4mysize!! Yes, now it is clear and a food makes more sense than a food group. I'm glad I ate a variety of veges from the induction list during Boot Camp.

          welcome this to me is the best part of this whole WOE!!!! I would love to direct you to the list our dear Loon made above...I just found it printed it off and keep it with me....it is so hard when you are busy to do the steps correctly because you really do need to plan...and planning is by all means the key to success around this place...so welcome to OWL and good luck to you!!!!
