  • Moving onto OWL

Hi there everyone! I am pleased to say i am starting my fifth week on this plan, already done Induction and 2 weeks extended Induction.

I do understand the Rungs and everything. My problems are counting Veg. Well i can count the carbs but i do tend to have bit more in the second list of Veggies although i do count them in my total carbs, i do not go by the cups measurement, does anybody think this will be aproblem.

I am goingto try and have more from the salad veggies too. I have been eating huge salads at lunch and veggies fromlist too with evening meal.

I was away to make my my evening meal when i decided to read the packetof broccoli...i have it counted as 100g:4grams Carbs. On packet it said carbs 1.8g of which sugars 1.5 (Fibre2.6g) I am in the uk, so i guess fibre taken off already.

So thats me onto OWL tomorrow, has anyone got any tips at all?
I plan to eat more veg and include 1 new veg for 2 weeks.

Oh and i forgot to mention lol i lost 1/2 pound this week lol My weight slowing now but i expected it, i not been toilet in 1 week and half( Got Physslium for that though and it soon be TOM. Its all going in the right direction though.

    Thanks
    Danielle

    Re: Moving onto OWL

During Induction, you were supposed to eat 3 cups of vegetables -- maximum 1 from the "Other Vegetables" list and the rest from the "Salad Vegetables" list. During OWL Rung 1, it doesn't matter any longer whether you are eating from the first or the second list. All you have to do is add another 5 g net veg carbohydrate to the amount of veg carbohydrate you ate during Induction, while keeping the carbs coming from other foods (cheese, heavy cream, etc.) more or less the same.

      Re: Moving onto OWL

I just started OWL this week too and am finding it easy - I thought it would be harder and to be honest I was a bit afraid of doing it because I thought the carbs added back in would counter my weight loss.
I did induction for 2 weeks, extended for 2 weeks and this is my 5th week on Atkins (I love this WOE)...
My weight loss stalled after induction and I did not lose a single gram during extended, so under the advice from the experienced Atkineers, I went to OWL rung 1. Mind you I did lose lots of cm's over the last couple of weeks.

I have just upped my vege intake to 19-23g of carbs (I rarely ate 20g of carbs on induction) and I feel great.

Good luck with OWL - this really is a great WOL
