  • Coconut question?

I'm adding coconut in on rung 3, but I'm confused...

On Fitday 1 ounce of dried, desiccated coconut meat, unsweetened, is 6.7 total carbs, with 4.6 of fibre - making 2.1 net carbs per ounce, but...

1 ounce of dried, desiccated coconut meat, toasted, is 12.6 total carbs with no fibre carbs.

I can't see how toasting the coconut could almost double the carb count - it's already 'dried' for the desiccated plain version, and toasting surely isn't going to make that much difference? Even if it did, how does it make the fibre count nil?

I have some toasted coconut flakes, no sugar, and I'm wondering how to count them.

    Re: Coconut question?

Fitday often makes assumption about prepared products. The old version used to tell us what those assumptions were, the new version does not So I am guessing that fitday assumes that the toasted version contains sugar and spices. Toasted coconut often does contain stuff.

I am not sure why the fibre is gone though. I wonder.....
