hi everyboy, its been 2 years since i have restricted cards of my diet following mostly a pattern of 30-35% protein, 50-55% fat and 10 to 5 % carbs. so the main principle of keeping insulin levels low while maximizing Gh and other important hormones is acheived. i followed the induction phase and eveything went ok except that whenever i try to loose weight there comes a point when i just cant loose any more. for example this year i started at 88.7 kg. i started eating fewer calories, from 3500 to 3000 , then 2650 , to 2300 and finally 2000 a day. naturally i dont eat the same amount every day, so one day i might eat 1750 and the other 2250. currently weight 81.4 kg and i just cant loose anymore weight. i have reduced calories to 300 more so its about 1700 a day. i excercise daily, 3 times per week weight lifting (4 cycles of 6 excercises 30 reps each) followed by 45 minutes fast walk. and on the days i dont use weights i just do an hour session in the treadmill in the morning and one at night for about 30 minutes ( fast walking ).http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...st/running.gif has someone else had a similar problem like me ? i am stuck at 81.4 kg and i know if restrict more on the daily calories i will loose muscle.

Re: some advice needed...
Welcome to the Board.
Maybe not calories are your problem.
Where in OWL are you, what rung? What foods did you add before you stopped losing? What is your current carb level? Do you know your CCLL?"Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

hi Georgiana i am at OWL rung 2, i dont want to consume the products ot the other rungs since carbs dont make me full good. because of my many years as a swimmer i consumed huge amounts of carbs and i dont want them anymore. so i want to avoid products like berries, alcohol, whole grains. i mostly rely on meat, fish olive oil, cheese, lettuce, eggs. my carb level is about 60 gr a day. i think my CCLL is about 80 gr per day.

Are these net carbs? How many of them come from vegetables?Originally posted by epsavit View Posthi Georgiana i am at OWL rung 2, i dont want to consume the products ot the other rungs since carbs dont make me full good. because of my many years as a swimmer i consumed huge amounts of carbs and i dont want them anymore. so i want to avoid products like berries, alcohol, whole grains. i mostly rely on meat, fish olive oil, cheese, lettuce, eggs. my carb level is about 60 gr a day. i think my CCLL is about 80 gr per day."Get action. Re: some advice needed...
hi again, around 45 are net carbs, coming from a solgar whey protein supplement i consume mostly. so the other 15 gr come mostly from vegetables. my fat percentage using the accu measure method if you happen to know it is 12 %,but using a scale that counts electro resistance is 20 % !!!

Re: some advice needed...
Just checked your BMI - its 25.7, which is almost perfect
The England Rugby hero Jonny Wilkinson is the same age and height as you (look here)
Perhaps there isnt that much fat to lose? and you are a muscular sporty guy?

Re: some advice needed...
Most of your net carbohydrates (over half) should come from vegetables. Many people find that their weight loss stalls or slows down when they substitute veggie net carbs with net carbs from other sources. Furthermore, Dr. Atkins wrote that, for best results, we should concentrate on natural, unprocessed foods. Whey protein is not one of them.
What I am confused about is your net carbs coming from whey protein. Is that 45 g or is it a typo? Maybe we're talking about different products, but this is what I'm looking at: Whey Protein Powder Vanilla Bean by Solgar - SL-2308 - at The Vitamin Shoppe . It has 1 net carb per scoop, so to eat 45 g, you would need to consume a whole container daily. Is there something I miss or are you using a different product?

Re: some advice needed...
That's the problem! Please read or re-read Chapter 14 in "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution" (2002) to remember how to do OWL correctly. As Dr. Atkins wrote, you should be "eating primarily natural, unprocessed foods". Whey protein is not a "natural, unprocessed" food. Also check the list of ingredients -- this stuff contains fructose, which is basically sugar. Certainly not something allowed on Atkins.Originally posted by epsavit View Posthi, this is tha one Whey To Go Protein Powder by Solgar @ Simply Natural , chocolate flavor. it had about 6 gr of sugars in one scoop. i take3-4 scoops per day 25-30 gr of sugars. the rest of the carbs come from a cup of milk . 4 scoops have about 64 gr of protein
Read the book (again) and do OWL correctly. On Atkins, you can only expect to have the results Dr. Atkins promised if you follow the Diet the way Dr. Atkins wrote it."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."
