  • Can I eat "oopsie" rolls/bread on OWL rung 1?

Okay, I found this recipe online. They were called oopsie bread and there were recipes for pizza crust, french bread, and many more! It looks delicious. I want to try out the recipe but I would like for more experienced low carbers to tell me if it's okay for me to eat this-of course in moderation. I currently just got over a plateau so I don't want to do anything to mess that up! Please click the link below, it has the pics and recipe. Thanks!

Yep, they are "legal" even during Induction.

This recipe and a few others are also in the "Induction Recipe Basics" in the "Atkins Diet 14-Day Induction" forum. Here's the link to that thread, in case you want to try more recipes: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...pes-added.html

Re: Can I eat "oopsie" rolls/bread on OWL rung 1?

By the way, Rung 1 OWL means you add 5 net carbs of any Induction vegetable to your current Induction menu. It doesn't mean you add 5 net carbs of the Revolution Rolls or whatever.

Also shabutter, you really, really, really need to read the book. From what you've posted so fat, you've been doing your diet haphazardly, not really following Atkins, because you really don't know what Atkins entails. If you want to do the Atkins Diet, that haphazard approach won't help you any. So please, read Dr. ATkins New Diet REvolution 2002 edition. Many public libraries have copies as do many book stores.

not2late, i actually do have the book, im almost finished reading it. a person can only go so long eating veggies and meat without feeling deprived. recipes like oopsie rolls keep a person like me sane...allowing me to feel like i'm not missing anything from a low carb diet. this is what i like about the atkins diet. thanks again for your advice

Oh darn, I have a really bad memory when it comes to usernames! You "not missing anything from a low carb diet" reminded me that I replied to a post you've made in the "Review My Menu" forum on May 6th: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...e-my-menu.html. There you were eating only 1/2 of lettuce and approximately 7 servings of sweetener. Did you change that by cutting down on sweeteners and adding 5 veggie net carbs to the veggie net carbs you had from 3 cups of vegetables during Induction? You might want to post an updated OWL Rung 1 menu, to make sure no more pauses in your weight loss will occur due to incorrect food choices.

Try cooking your food differently, using different spices, different dressings, etc. Any way of eating will make you feel deprived if you cook your food the same way, whether you are eating poultry, red meat, fish, cauliflower, peppers, potatoes or pastas. Experiment with new recipes and prepare foods you enjoy, but do so by closely following the rules of the Atkins phase you're in.

Re: Can I eat "oopsie" rolls/bread on OWL rung 1?

I did increase my veggie intake, and since then have noticed that my "plateau" has diminished..in only a matter of days I also have not had splenda or my lovely tea for the past few days. Every now and then I do take a couple of gulps of coke zero though , but have cut back significantly on artificial sugar.

It's not that I feel deprived on atkins (I am actually in LOVE with this lifestyle), but sometimes I just want something sweet....so that's why I'm looking for alternatives..even though it may be in the form of splenda. Thats the only thing I can use!
              thanks again.

These oopsie rolls look great, I can't believe how "real" they look. I'll hit the supermarket this afternoon and get more cream cheese and cream of tartar and give them a go!

Glad to hear you got out of that plateau by adding more vege too shabutter587, keep at it

Just thought I'd mention that if you want to keep your cheese for other uses than making revolution rolls or oopsie rolls you can substitute the cream cheese with mayonnaise.

Also if you haven't got cream of tartar the recipe will work without it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks Elizellen, I grabbed cream cheese and cream of tartar yesterday but was iffy about using that much cream cheese. I've just made a batch with mayo and am waiting for them to come out of the oven! They seem to be holding together so far, I was surprised at the consistency but it's been 18+ years since I beat egg whites!!
