It reminds me of one of my old favourites - an all-day breakfast dish called 'The Cobb Pigout Breakfast' at our local café which was an 'full English' breakfast (sausage/bacon/egg/mushrooms) served in a hollowed out cobb loaf which is like a cottage loaf but without the 'topknot' added and about 6-8 inches in diameter.

I didn't usually eat the whole loaf but a good percentage of it
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I know what you mean, I keep trying to remind myself that thin feels so much better than all that bread tastes.

It is funny, but even when I reached the 9th OWL rung and 'could' add bread I found I am no longer even considering eating it.

I tend to use whole grains in recipes for things like flapjacks instead and continue making flax bread/almond bread/revolution rolls etc to use as my bread.

My husband is doing it too. He had a little less to lose, and of course, being a guy it came off faster (he also has a more physical job). So he is already at goal weight and I have 15-20 lbs to go. We went to a friends house and they had homemade foccacia bread. So he had a piece, being that he is at goal and really eating like me most days anyway to be supportive. He said he couldn't remember why he liked bread so much- it didn't turn him on at all.

Carbo bombs. I am sure there are many. I don't know about he pizza hut ones but the domino pasta bowl contained about 200 carbs each virtually no fibre and more salt than you should eat in a day.

I laughed histerically when I saw the domino's commercial...it seemed like something off of Saturday Night Live. I wouldn't wish one of those on my worst enemy!!

Grains are inexpensive, relatively easier to grow than livestock, and can be stored easily. This makes them the ideal food to feed a large number of people for less money.

I read about food history whenever I can, and traditionally, grains were used as "extenders"---extend meat and vegetables to feed more people and as "fillers". Elizellen and our other UK members might be able to confirm this, but in some parts of the UK, Yorkshire pudding (a baked batter of flour, water and fat) was eaten before the meat and vegetables, in order to fill everyone up.....cut your appetite.....so that the meat and vegetables could feed more people.

When I was growing up, we had Filipino neighbors. They would make pancit, the Filipino version of lo mein. When the pancit was made just for the family meal (which sometimes included me), it was about 50% noodles and 50% meat and veg. When it was made for a party, it was about 75% noodles and 20% veg and 5% meat.

Same thing happened in my family: when we had more dinner guests, mom would put more dumplings into the stew pot.

So these pasta in a bread bowl things are a way for these restaurants to make alot of money without spending alot on ingredients.
